Wellness: For Health’s Sake Frequent doctor visits for early diagnosis of diseases do not equal prevention. Prevention means keeping disease away and staying healthy. Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says real prevention involves living according to the principles of biblical wellness. The REFRESHING Way lifestyle is an authentic prevention plan. Words of Encouragement
Isaiah 66:13 As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.
Micah 7:18, 19 Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sin into the depths of the sea.
For Heaven’s Sake…
Like Pharoah, who pursued the children of Israel after they fled Egypt, Satan pursues those who leave him and choose to follow Jesus. When you accept Jesus as your Savior, you are set free from the penalty of past sins. Moreover, you are empowered to live for Jesus, not Satan. You are fully pardoned. Like the children of Israel, you are freed from bondage, freed from the power of sin. That enrages Satan and all who belong to him.
Typically, the escapee from a life of sin will, like the Israelites, eventually feel walled in by opposition. “The third night after leaving Rameses they (Israel) found themselves walled in on each side by mountain ranges, while the Red Sea lay before them.” Vol. 4, Testimonies to the Church, p. 21. In spite of apparently insurmountable difficulties, the command of the Lord was, “Go forward.” Exodus 14:3-9; 15:9.”
That is what God says to us today. No matter what the opposition, no matter the difficulty, we are to continue doing the right thing. We are to walk forward by the unfailing clear word of God. We are to go forward in faith and know that God will never fail us. God knows how to make the same thing favorable to His people unfavorable to their enemies. It may take a miracle.
The “guiding cloud passed between the two armies, becoming a pillar of darkness to Pharoah’s army, but of light to Israel. ‘All that night,’ (Exodus 14:21), God held the waters of the Sea in check and Israel passed over on dry ground. In ‘the morning watch,’ (the watch before the dawn, Moffatt) the entire army of Pharoah, attempting to follow, was drowned in the Sea. (Exodus 14:10-31)”
You see, ultimately, the battle is not yours. It is the LORD’s.
Just be warned against having a wrong response to a miracle. Pharoah had seen many miracles of God. With every miracle, he refused to do the right thing. In the face of clear evidence, he never acknowledged the sovereignty of God. He never turned from doing wrong. Thus, his heart became hardened to doing right. Ultimately, it cost him his life and the life of all who followed him.

For Health’s Sake…
Here’s how Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry defines the REFRESHING Way lifestyle:
R – Relying on God will minimize stress levels. It will keep your body from producing more fats and from constricting the blood vessels, which leads to high blood pressure.
E – Eating healthy involves a total plant-based diet, which includes eating lots of raw, fresh foods like sprouts. It means eliminating the trend of fried foods, oily foods, processed foods, and white flour products. It means no dairy products or the flesh of dead animals and their byproducts, like eggs.
F – Fresh air is essential to a healthy body throughout the day. Sleeping with a steady supply of fresh air through a slightly cracked window promotes better rest.
R – Rest. Adequate rest is essential. All body organs need a full period of relaxation. Getting to bed by 9:30 pm or earlier is best, as the hours prior to midnight are twice as beneficial as those after midnight.
E – Exercise is needed at least five times per week. The heart is a muscle that requires regular workout, where the heart rate gets elevated. Exercise is imperative for conditions like diabetes, hypertension and cancer.
S – Self-Control is temperance. It means abstaining from harmful substances, like alcohol, tobacco, drugs, even harmful activities. It also means doing in moderation those things that are good for you. Eating is good for you. But overeating weakens and poisons your body system. Working is good for you. Overworking is harmful to you.
H – H2O. Drink water. Drink half of your body weight in ounces. A hundred-pound person needs to drink 50 ounces of water daily. Water combined with fiber helps transport fat out of the body. Drinking more water helps you lose weight.
I – In the sun. Sunlight helps the body produce vitamin D, which is known to help every system of the body operate more efficiently. Those of a darker hue, however, need more sunlight daily, as the extra melanin in the skin blocks the benefits of the sun.
N – Never give up.
G – Give to others.
That is how you prevent disease.
