Worship: The Heavenly Sanctuary Succeeded the Earthly / Wellness: Can Dogs Sniff Out Cancer?

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The heavenly sanctuary existed before the earthly sanctuary, but in function relative to salvation, it succeeds the earthly–much like the existence and function relation of the two covenants. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, read from a health.news article. It highlighted a story about a blind dog that saved the life of its owner by paw pointing out the area of her cancer. The article reported that dogs can be trained to sniff out various types of cancer, because the skin releases certain scents that can be detected by the sensitive olfactory bulbs of canines. The article reports that they “have 220 million scent receptors; 195 million more than that of humans.” The article further reported that one “study involved five dogs that were given breath samples of 31 breast cancer patients, 55 lung cancer patients and 83 healthy persons. All dogs were able to pinpoint which samples came from those who were ill, with approximately 90 percent accuracy. According to Tammana Khare of Dogs Naturally Magazine, because of the metabolic waste released by cancerous cells, a distinct smell is also released from the human body. This significant smell can be easily traced by dogs even during the earlier stages of cancer.”

Words of Encouragement

Psalm 37:4  Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Isaiah 58:13, 14  If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shalt honor him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it. For Heaven’s Sake…

The first tabernacle or sanctuary refers to the one Moses made at Sinai. But is was only a type of the heavenly sanctuary. Moses made it according to the pattern of the heavenly sanctuary, that is “the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man,” according to Hebrews 8:2. When Christ died on the cross, the vail of the earthly sanctuary was miraculously torn from top to bottom, according to Matthew 27:51 and Mark 15:38. “This was Heaven’s announcement the the work of the earthly sanctuary was ended, and that the service of the heavenly sanctuary was about to take its place.  When Jesus cried out “It is finished” (John 19:30), “all the sacrifices of the court met their antitype in Him, the true Sacrifice. The sacrifice of Christ, made in the court of the earth, was an end of all shedding of blood for sin. . . and . . . Never again was it (the earthly sanctuary) to be the dwelling place of God on earth. The service of the heavenly sanctuary was about to succeed that of the earthly.”
