Worship: The Bread of Life / Wellness: Making the Best of Your Exercise Experience

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  On the table of shewbread was set two rows of large cakes or loaves, six in each row. The number of cakes represented the twelve tribes of Israel. But the bread itself represented Jesus, the Bread of Life. On the table beside the bread was the wine, suggesting “the Lord’s communion table. And let it be noted that this immediately followed the ordinance of feet washing prefigured at the laver. After we are laved, as we partake of the bread and the wine of communion, do we not thus renew our covenant with Jesus to feed daily on the Bread of Life and to drink daily from the Fountain of life?” Pastor Flemons says that when we study the Bible, we are eating the Bread of Life. Jesus is that Bread of Life. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Moses and Jesus both said that it is by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the LORD that man lives. Jesus said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world” (John 6:51).

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that to get the most out of exercise, you must first actually exercise. Then exercise is best done outside to get fresh air into your lungs. Meditate on the word of the Lord while you are exercising. Consider walking or swimming for your exercise routine. Walking and swimming work more muscles than any other exercise. Exercise is best done in the coolest portion of the day. Please don’t walk in the hottest part of the day. You risk having a heat stroke. Make sure exercise does not hurt you in any way. Finally, let your exercise remind you that your faith will grow as you exercise it. (For further details, please listen to the recording.)

Words of Encouragement

Psalm 89:34  My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

Psalm 89:31-33  If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments; Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail. (Also read PP 738.)
