Worship: Who Lighted the Lamps? / Wellness: A Merry Heart and Medicine

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Aaron, the high priest, lighted the sanctuary lamps. (Numbers 8:3). “So Christ, our High Priest, must light our lamps before we can shine for Him. He, the central shaft, sends oil to all the branches, and that without measure–its measure being ‘ the measure of the fullness of Christ.’ Eph. 4:13. This contact with the source of light may be compared to the electric power in the wires. Only as we are connected with this power can we truly shine.” (PTG)

Pastor Flemons said that only when Christ is Lord of our life, we can shine, we can rejoice. And then he sang the hymn “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart.”

[For additional details, please read Numbers 8:3; Ephesians 4:13; John 15:5; and “Who Lighted the Lamps?'” in The Path to the Throne of God: The Sanctuary, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 142 original; PTG 195 new edition; PTG 108 online) Also please listen to the recording and hear Pastor Flemons sing Hymn 27, “Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, quoted Proverbs 17:22: “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine.” He followed it up with a reading from Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene, which confirms the link between the condition of the heart and the health of the body. In part, it says this:

“The influence of the Spirit of God is the very best medicine for disease. Heaven is all health; and the more deeply heavenly influences are realized, the more sure will be the recovery of the believing invalid. The true principles of Christianity open before all a source of inestimable happiness. Religion is a continual well-spring, from which the Christian can drink at will, and never exhaust the fountain. {CTBH 13.2}

“The relation which exists between the mind and the body is very intimate. When one is affected, the other sympathizes. The condition of the mind affects the health of the physical system. If the mind is free and happy, from a consciousness of right-doing and a sense of satisfaction in causing happiness to others, it creates a cheerfulness that will react upon the whole system, causing a freer circulation of the blood, and a toning up of the entire body. . . . {CTBH 13.3}
