Worship: Righteousness by Faith / Wellness: Constipating Foods and Natural Laxatives

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Righteousness by faith “includes both justification and sanctification. The first is wholly an act of faith without the deeds of the law, accepting the righteousness of Christ as a free gift; the second is ‘God working in you’ not only ‘to will’ (justification) but also ‘to do’ of His good pleasure (sanctification). Phil. 2:12,13. While justification is the first step in righteousness by faith, sanctification is its completion. Both come through faith in Christ. From the time we enter the gate of the court until mortal life ends in the holy place, the entire Christian experience is righteousness by faith. ” (PTG)

[For additional details, please read Philippians 2:12, 13; Jeremiah 31:3; Hosea 11:4; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 2:11-14; and “Righteousness by Faith” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 145 original. PTG 200 new version. PTG 111 online.) Please listen to the recording and hear Paula sing a medley of Hymn 517, “My Faith Looks Up to Thee” and Hymn 523, “My Faith Has Found a Resting Place.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Eating the right foods is the greatest part of avoiding major headaches and diseases caused by toxins that can’t be released from the body due to constipation. Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that you should have daily bowel movements, but that most people go for days without one.

The most constipating food “on the face of the earth” he says is cheese made from cows. Cheese is “unfit for food. . . It locks up the system.” The next most constipating food is the flesh of animals, including chicken and fish, which are acidic and have no fiber. Refined foods, especially white flour products, including those colored brown, should be avoided. They too cause constipation.

Eat fibrous foods, like fruits, whole grains (especially millet), and vegetables (especially raw). Nuts and seeds are also good sources of fiber. Herbs, especially flaxseeds, which can be sprinkled over foods or ground to powder, also have fiber and are healthy for the colon. They should be regularly included in your diet.

When special help is needed to relieve constipation, use psyllium in a little water or juice and drink it down immediately, before it gels. Slippery elm in water is a stool softener, he says, as he also recommends cascara segrada, mandrake, TOR’s Colon Cleanse Tonic and Diatomaceous Earth (DE).
