Worship: Offering Made by Fire / Wellness: Testimonies of Praise

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  One of the four definite assignments required for God’s people on the Day of Atonement included “an offering made by fire.” Two of the four (an holy convocation and an affliction of souls) were already discussed. The morning’s talk centered on the offering made by fire.

Although it was a requirement on the Day of Atonement, it was also a burnt offering made every morning and every evening, symbolizing a “constant dependence upon the atoning blood of Christ.” (PP 352) Especially would this dependence be appropriately included in atonement services. It was expressive of a complete consecration to God. It expressed that the whole body, soul, and spirit were God’s in “thanksgiving and gratitude to Him who gave Himself as a  whole burnt offering.” It was completely consumed.

“Now, in the evening of the Judgment day, at the time of the evening sacrifice, the time when ‘the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is’ 1 Cor. 3:13-15, shall we not return to our first love, once more dedicating to God all that we have and are for the finishing of His work?”

Pastor Flemons read a paragraph from Signs of the Times, that says this: “Those who love their Redeemer will rejoice at every opportunity to share with him in humiliation, shame, and reproach. The love they bear their Lord makes suffering, for his sake, sweet; and they know that if they suffer with him they shall also reign with him in his glory. This experience of suffering for Christ’s sake is absolutely essential to the spiritual life of the Christian. There can be no true, vital godliness without seasons of trial and grief.  We are chosen in the furnace of affliction, and the trial of our faith is more precious than gold.”

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, extended the opportunity for anyone to ask questions during the health segment. In lieu of health questions, listeners (including Sis. Annette, the person for special prayer at #4690, and Sis. Chester) shared testimonies and prayer requests. Upon learning of Sis. Chester’s birthday, Pastor Flemons sang a very special birthday song in her honor.

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers call-in listener 4690, who requested that we pray that she receives the character of Christ and to walk in His Spirit. Pray for Sis. Chester who is celebrating a birthday today. She wants to be stronger, bolder, more patient and compassionate and better for Christ. Pray for two families of Sis. David, each dealing with a loved one with cancer. One is in stage 4. And pray for a longtime friend of Sis. Audrey, Cindy Haun, who retired and moved to Uganda alone to teach children. She has experienced a recent riot in the area and is in need of our prayers.

Pray also for those undergoing surgery today. Pray for all grieving families (especially widows and widowers). Pray for those fighting for their lives and those fighting depression and other mental conditions. Also pray for people living in areas at risk of being destroyed by hurricanes and tornadoes and other natural disasters, like earthquakes, sinkholes and floods.

Remember to continue praying for the entire TOR broadcast family, that GOD will be free to bless us in the way that HE really wants to in 2018. Thank you!
