Worship: For Heaven’s Sake The tabernacle was erected and furnished. But before any services could be conducted in it, it must be anointed with a special anointing oil. As with everything connected with salvation through the sanctuary, the anointing oil had to be made according to strict directions. Four specific sweet spices: myrrh, cinnamon, calamus, and cassia–all represented Christ.
“These spices, weighing about 48 pounds (Moffatt) were compounded in an hin (1.5 gal., Moffatt) of olive oil. Ex. 30:23-25, thus making sufficient for anointing the priests and the sanctuary. The olive oil representing the Holy Spirit, and the four fragrant spices symbolizing Christ, being ‘compounded’ indicates the close cooperation of Christ and His representative, the Holy Spirit. This accounts for the warning given against compounding any like it or using it for any common purpose, under penalty of being cut off from Israel. Ex. 30:31-33.”
Not only were the tabernacle and its furnishings anointed, so were the priests. Likewise, so must all of God’s true followers be anointed for successful service. However, Pastor Flemons made this point vitally clear. “The anointing of the Holy Spirit doesn’t make you dance. The Holy Spirit makes you fragrant with the character of Christ.”

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, introduced Meals Before Pills. A major outreach project of Times of Refreshing, Meals Before Pills promotes proper diet and lifestyle as both a preventative and curative lifestyle plan. A book with the same title will be published and available at a later date, says Pastor Flemons. He then recited the poem “The Fence or the Ambulance.” The poem, he says, sends the message that we need meals before pills. He advises following the REFRESHING Way lifestyle before being rushed to the ER.
