Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Where is your faith? Pastor Flemons discussed the life of David, who stands as an example of sheer faith in God’s power for moving mountains of difficulty. David, as a “young stripling” bravely opposed the giant Goliath of the Philistines, who challenged any warrior of Israel to one-on-one combat with him. Supposing himself to be the obvious winner, Goliath unflinchingly charged the loser and his nation to be the servants of the winner. Goliath continued to taunt and fearlessly curse the God of Israel before the trembling nation, without any response, until David saw the scene.
With only five smooth stones, a simple sling, and a rare experience in God’s power to deliver, David defended the honor of God. David charged toward the giant, claiming that the battle was not his, but the Lord’s. Although Goliath was fully fitted for battle in an impenetrable armor, David’s faith in God proved no match for the heathen giant. Until the day he slew Goliath, “David had manifested daring, courage, and strength but rarely witnessed.” Since then, his faith is a testimony for all the world for all time and is the reason he is one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, and Sis. Maria discussed TORSOE’s (Times of Refreshing Simplicity of Eden) 10-day fast for spiritual cleansing and healing, which begins August 1. Sis. Maria shared two more recipes to use during the liquid fast by anyone, but especially for those with digestive disturbances. These drinks will help heal the gut.
The TORSOE Good Digestion Celery Juice
Juice
- 2 lbs, organic celery (washed, soaked and chopped)
- 2 large organic cucumbers
- 1 large orange
- 1/2 lemon
This makes 32 ounces of juice, which may be taken throughout the day or four times over the course of the day, when drinking 8 ounces each time.
The TORSOE Ginger Mango Green Smoothie
Blend
- 1 cup, coconut water
- 3 to 4 leaves, kale
- 1 ripe banana
- 1 cup, frozen mango
- 1 T, fresh ginger root (peeled and roughly chopped)
- 2 capsules emptied into smoothie (Recommended: Renew Life Ultimate Flora Probiotics. Available at Amazon. It is soy free, dairy free, gluten free.)
They emphasized that you don’t need to have digestive problems to enjoy these drinks, which may be taken throughout the day. Juice and smoothie recipes have already been provided for diabetes, hypertension, cancer, anemia, and arthritis. Monday through Wednesday, recipes will target poor eyesight, the immune system, and sleep disorders. Pastor Flemons advises visiting TORSOE’s online store for tonic and tea products that are designed to help heal the conditions already mentioned. For digestive issues, he recommends taking TORSOE’s Tummy Soother.

Sharing and Caring Time Sis. Maria encouraged listeners with a passage of reading from the book Power of Prayer, a collection of statements on prayer by Ellen G. White, particularly from the section titled “The Privilege of Prayer,” Chapter 1, p. 9. [Another source of the same quote is used below.]
“The disciples no longer had any distrust of the future. They knew that Jesus was in heaven, and that His sympathies were with them still. They knew that they had a friend at the throne of God, and they were eager to present their requests to the Father in the name of Jesus. In solemn awe they bowed in prayer, repeating the assurance, ‘Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in My name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.’ John 16:23, 24. They extended the hand of faith higher and higher, with the mighty argument, ‘It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.’ Romans 8:34. And Pentecost brought them fullness of joy in the presence of the Comforter, even as Christ had promised.” {DA 833.1}
“. . . They do not realize what a great privilege and necessity are prayer, repentance, and the doing of the words of Christ. It is the office of the Holy Spirit to reveal to the mind the character of the consecration that God will accept. Through the agency of the Holy Spirit, the soul is enlightened, and the character is renewed, sanctified, and uplifted.” {1SM 134.1}
“There are few who rightly appreciate or improve the precious privilege of prayer. We should go to Jesus and tell Him all our needs. We may bring Him our little cares and perplexities as well as our greater troubles. Whatever arises to disturb or distress us, we should take it to the Lord in prayer. When we feel that we need the presence of Christ at every step, Satan will have little opportunity to intrude his temptations. It is his studied effort to keep us away from our best and most sympathizing friend. We should make no one our confidant but Jesus. We can safely commune with Him of all that is in our hearts.—(Testimonies for the Church 5:200, 201.) {Pr 8.3}
