Romans 3:1-19 by pastor Shelem flemons
The highlight of these verses was verse 19 wherein the Apostle Paul declares that all are under the law in order that all the world may become guilty before God. This verse is used to teach that those under grace do not have to keep the law. What Paul is saying is that everyone who has sinned is guilty of law breaking. Those who truly have grace will therefore have forgiveness for past sins and empowerment to keep the law in the present. Thus, they will not be under the law, for they are obedient.
Romans 4:1-25
The highlight of Romans 4 is Abraham. He was made righteous by faith and not by works. The Bible never teaches that we are made righteous by our own efforts to keep the law. We are made righteous by believing in God’s forgiveness and victory. Over what does the gospel claim victory? It is over sin. Therefore, seeing that sin is the transgression of the law, we learned that Romans 4 did not do away with God’s law. It highlights the fact that a transformed character comes by faith. That same character, will show fruit in obedience. To God be the glory.
