Words of Encouragement
Ecclesiastes 8:12 Though a sinner do evil an hundred tines, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him.
Micah 7:7-8 Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.
For Heaven’s Sake…
The vast assembly looked forward to a better day, each in his own way. The scribes and Pharisees longed for dominion over the Romans, possession of riches, and the splendor of the world’s great empire. Poor peasants and fishermen longed for mansions of plenty and days of ease. They imagined costly robes in place of the one coarse garment they donned day and night. Their hopes were high for worldly greatness.
The first words of Jesus were words of blessing. In time the hearers would be disappointed. They would need to recall these words of blessing and encouragement.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit.” Only those who sense their need of Him and those who recognize their spiritual poverty could receive the blessing. The gospel is to be preached to them. For they are positioned to receive the gift of God.
“Blessed are they that mourn.” Only those who mourn over the sins that break the heart of Jesus would find comfort that only can be found in Jesus. “God’s word for the sorrowing is, “I have seen his ways, and will heal him: I will lead him also, and restore comforts unto him . . . I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.” Isaiah 57:18; Jeremiah 31:13. DA 301.2
“Blessed are the meek.” “The highest evidence of nobility in a Christian is self-control. He who under abuse or cruelty fails to maintain a calm and trustful spirit robs God of His right to reveal in his His own perfection of character. Lowliness of heart is the strength that gives victory to the followers of Christ; it is the token of their connection with the courts above.” DA 301.3
Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness are blessed with the fullness of the Holy Spirit, who “never leaves unassisted the soul who is looking unto Jesus.” He never ceases working with that one until the soul is conformed to the image of Christ.
Through other words of blessing, Christ longed to teach them what really mattered. “True character is not shaped from without, and put on; it radiates from within. If we wish to direct others in the path of righteousness, the principles of righteousness must be enshrined in our own hearts. Our profession of faith may proclaim the theory of religion, but it is our practical piety that holds forth the word of truth. The consistent life, the holy conversation, the unswerving integrity, the active benevolent spirit, the godly example,–these are the mediums through which light is conveyed to the world. DA 307.1
“The ideal of Christian character is Christlikeness. As the Son of man was perfect in His life, so His followers are to be perfect in their life. Jesus was in all things made like unto His brethren. He became flesh, even as we are. He was hungry and thirsty and weary. He was sustained by food and refreshed by sleep. He shared the lot of man; yet He was the blameless Son of God. He was God in the flesh. His character is to be ours. The Lord says of those who believe in Him, ‘I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.'” 2 Corinthians 6:16. DA 311.4

For Health’s Sake. . .
Diabetes is a condition in which there is an abnormal response to insulin and/or inadequate insulin production causing high sugar levels. The high sugar levels are the result of excess glucose that is barred from entry into the cells, mostly because of fat and toxins that surround the cell. It’s called hyperglycemia. Fatigue, frequent urination, and excessive thirst are the resulting symptoms.
Because oxygen and glucose create energy in the cell, without glucose, the body lacks energy and is fatigued. Because the body’s response to excess sugar in the blood is to flush the blood with water, it pulls water from the body’s extremities. Thus, there is frequent urination and excessive thirst. This is also the reason diabetics are known for experiencing peripheral neuropathy. Along with the water drained from the body’s extremities, minerals are lost. Nerves are damaged. Tissues die. Range of movement is lost.
Pastor Flemons dwelt with the side effects of medicinal insulin. These include obesity and being prone to heart attacks and strokes. A better option is to go on a cleansing and change the lifestyle. In-home coaching is available through Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry.
