Words of Encouragement

Romans 15:13  Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 17:19-21  Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“‘After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in My blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me. For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till He come.’ 1 Cor. 11:23-26.

“Christ was standing at the point of transition between two economies and their two great festivals. He, the spotless Lamb of God, was about to present Himself as a sin offering, that He would thus bring to an end the system of types and ceremonies that for four thousand years had pointed to His death. As He ate the Passover with His disciples, He instituted in its place the service that was to be the memorial of His great sacrifice. The national festival of the Jews was to pass away forever. The service which Christ established was to be observed by His followers in all lands and through all ages. DA 652.3

“The Passover was ordained as a commemoration of the deliverance of Israel from Egyptian bondage. God had directed that, year by year, as the children should ask the meaning of this ordinance, the history should be repeated. Thus the wonderful deliverance was to be kept fresh in the minds of all. The ordinance of the Lord’s Supper was given to commemorate the great deliverance wrought out as the result of the death of Christ. Till He shall come the second time in power and glory, this ordinance is to be celebrated. It is the means by which His great work for us is to be kept fresh in our minds. DA 652.3

“At the time of their deliverance from Egypt, the children of Israel ate the Passover supper standing, with their loins girded, and with their staves in their hands, ready for their journey. The manner in which they celebrated this ordinance harmonized with their condition; for they were about to be thrust out of the land of Egypt, and were to begin a painful and difficult journey through the wilderness. But in Christ’s time the condition of things had changed. They were not now about to be thrust out of a strange country, but were dwellers in their own land. In harmony with the rest that had been given them, the people then partook of the Passover supper in a reclining position. . . . DA 653.1

“The Communion service points to Christ’s second coming. It was designed to keep this hope vivid in the minds of the disciples. Whenever they met together to commemorate His death, they recounted how ‘He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; for this is My blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in My Father’s kingdom.’ In their tribulation they found comfort in the hope of their Lord’s return. Unspeakably precious to them was the thought, ‘As often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till He come.’ 1 Cor. 11:26. DA 659.3”

(This study is based on Matthew 26:20-29; Mark 14:17-25; Luke 22:14-23; John 13:18-30; and chapter 72, “In Remembrance of Me” in The Desire of Ages (DA), by Ellen G. White.)

For Health’s Sake…

This weed-like herb is “a diuretic that helps the kidneys clear out waste, salt, and excess water by increasing urine production,” according to a Sunwarrior Healthhub article Pastor Flemons shared. Called pissenlit in French, which is roughly translated to “wet the bed,” dandelion inhibits microbial growth in the urinary system and replaces some of the potassium lost in the process.

Interestingly, dandelion is very rich in beta-carotene, which the body converts into vitamin A. Also “rich in vitamin C, fiber, potassium, iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and phosphorus,” as well as being “a good place to get B complex vitamins, trace minerals, organic sodium, and even some vitamin D too,” it’s no wonder dandelion is a superfood. And if you’re wondering where to get protein, if you are considering a plant-based diet, you need to know that “dandelion also contains protein, more than spinach. It has been eaten for thousands of years as a food and as a medicine to treat anemia, scurvy, skin problems, blood disorders, and depression.” That you can find such a superfood, abundant and free, shows the rich and pure love of God for the well-being of mankind.

The What the Health Feast Group in Indianapolis is finding that out. Yalonda added her testimony that confirms a plant-based diet is key to living well. Only on her fourth day of the group’s 14-day juice feast, Yalonda is relieved of the pain usually gripping her back and legs. She is no longer waking up groggy. She is sleeping through the night. Only two years into her marriage, she says, “I want to live.” It is a spiritual experience as well. She says that she is committed to being well for God, herself and her family. “I seek clarity of mind,” she says. “We are not meant to be sick.”
