Worship: Preparation of the Gospel / Wellness: Dangers of Aluminum

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Pastor Flemons continued the Whole Armor series based on Ephesians 6:10-19. His focus was verse 15. The full armor, according to Ephesians 6:15, includes your feet being shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. The gospel of peace is the gospel of Jesus Christ. The preparation is an education that binds you to Christ for an eternity.

However, “Much of the education given is a perversion of the name. In true education the selfish ambition, the greed for power, the disregard for the rights and needs of humanity, that are the curse of our world, find a counterinfluence. God’s plan of life has a place for every human being. Each is to improve his talents to the utmost; and faithfulness in doing this, be the gifts few or many, entitles one to honor.” {CG 293.4}

 “True education is true religion.” {CT 108}

“And those who would be workers together with God must strive for perfection of every organ of the body and quality of the mind. True education is the preparation of the physical, mental, and moral powers for the performance of every duty; it is the training of body, mind, and soul for divine service. This is the education that will endure unto eternal life. {COL 330.3}

The holy scriptures, according to 2 Timothy 3:15, are able to make one “wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.”

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that we need to be aware of the dangers in using aluminum. Drawing from an article published on cancerSchmancer.org, Pastor Flemons quoted Dr. Sharon Wynters:

“More than half of all cookware sold today is made of aluminum because it is lightweight and because it heats evenly. If untreated aluminum is used in the preparation of salty or acid foods, large amounts of aluminum can be released into food. This is evidenced by the pitting of aluminum foil when it is in contact with these types of foods for more than several hours.  . . . [Aluminum foil]  should never be used to cover or contain foods where the aluminum comes in direct contact with food.”

Use stainless steel cookware, says Pastor Flemons. Avoid aluminum cookware, whether it is treated or not, he says. It is “a growing concern” that aluminum is linked “to Alzheimer’s disease and to other neurological problems which are becoming more and more common.”

According to the article, many common foods and food additives contain aluminum, including pickling agents, anti-caking agents, baking powders, and baking mixes. Nondairy creamers, self-rising flour, processed cheeses, and cheese spreads also contain aluminum. But the largest source of aluminum is buffered aspirin and antacids.

Pastor Flemons says that the greater danger is aluminum in skin care products, like deodorant. Using an antiperspirant deodorant is “the worst thing you can do,” he says. It locks in perspiration, which then backs up into the breast. This is the main source of breast cancer, he says. You are well advised to use deodorants that do not contain aluminum.
