Special Prayer was offered for a live call-in listener: 2596. Please pray for the salvation of her family, particularly her sister Geneva, nephew Amare, JC, and Roberto. Pray also that Geneva’s work situation is maintained, that she will get a permanent profile and leave time in July. Pray that Amare is successful in all of his challenges of reading, writing, speaking, learning, and age-appropriate life training. Pray that she can get Spanish copies of Steps to Christ and The Great Controversy to Roberto.

Words of Encouragement

Matthew 27:52-53  And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

Psalm 51:17  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“’He shall restore fourfold,’ had been David’s unwitting sentence upon himself, on listening to the prophet Nathan’s parable; and according to his own sentence he was to be judged. Four of his sons must fall, and the loss of each would be a result of the father’s sin. PP 727.1″

Two full years had passed. Still David had done nothing. Neither had Amnon repented of raping his sister. David’s other son, Absalom, simmered in anger during the two years. Finally, he took matters into his own hands. His scheme was played out to the detail. He called all of David’s sons to a special feast and had Amnon killed. Then he fled to his mother’s father, the king of Geshur, where he remained for two years. David had forbidden his return to Jerusalem.

Joab, David’s trusted adviser, used a renowned wise woman to appeal to David’s judgment in what he supposed was her own story. He judged for compassion to her guilty son. She secured his promises. As it turned out, the compassion was to his own son, Absalom. He allowed Absalom to return to his own home in Jerusalem, but he was banned from the royal court and from seeing his father.

After another two years, Absalom was allowed back into his father’s presence. Again Joab’s influence prevailed. But to Joab’s surprise, Absalom was planning to overthrow David as king. During the years, his violated sister lived with him. Her sufferings had kept the memory fresh in his heart. Having gained popularity and sympathy among the people, Absalom set in motion full rebellion to usurp his father’s throne.

But God had placed David on the throne. And no one could unseat him. Only for a time, God allowed the circumstances of betrayal to play out to David’s hurt because of his own paralysis in dealing with sin. David was forced to recognize the calamities he and God’s people faced were due to his own sin. Deeply humiliated and repentant, David submitted to God’s will for him, even if it meant his own death. The rebellion, however, ended with Absalom’s own life and burial in a pit marked only by a very great heap of stones.

“Had God permitted David to go on unrebuked in sin, and while transgressing the divine precepts, to remain in peace and prosperity upon his throne, the skeptic and infidel might have had some excuse for citing the history of David as a reproach to the religion of the Bible. But in the experience through which He caused David to pass, the Lord shows that He cannot tolerate or excuse sin. And David’s history enables us to see also the great ends which God has in view in His dealings with sin; it enables us to trace, even through darkest judgments, the working out of His purposes of mercy and beneficence. He caused David to pass under the rod, but He did not destroy him; the furnace is to purify, but not to consume. The Lord says, ‘If they break My statutes, and keep not My commandments; then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes. Nevertheless My loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer My faithfulness to fail.’ Psalm 89:31-33.PP 738.2″

For Health’s Sake…

Ovarian cancer is “the 5th most common cause of cancer deaths in women. Among the gynecologic cancers (uterine, cervical, and ovarian), ovarian cancer has the highest rate of deaths.” Also according to MedicalNewsToday.com, “Ovarian cancer is most common in women who have been through menopause, although it can affect women of any age.” Pastor Flemons adds that women with breast cancer are prone to ovarian cancer. “Each year,” reports MedicalNewsToday.com, “more than 22,000 women in the U.S. are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and around 14,000 will die.”

Pastor Flemons and Times of Refreshing exist to help lower those statistics. Ovarian cancer is not due to a deficiency in birth control pills, says Pastor Flemons. It has the same cause as fibroids and endometriosis in women and prostate enlargement and cancer in men. An imbalance of hormones, resulting from the consumption of too much animal protein in flesh, dairy and eggs and a lack of exercise, is the real problem.

Symptoms of ovarian cancer include pain in the pelvis, lower stomach, lower side of the body and the back. Other symptoms include indigestion or heartburn, feeling full rapidly when eating, pain during sexual intercourse, more frequent and urgent urination, and changes in bowel habits, such as constipation. As ovarian cancer progresses, however, these symptoms are also possible: nausea, weight loss, breathlessness, tiredness, and loss of appetite.

During the next two weeks, Pastor Flemons will focus on lifestyle that can help prevent ovarian cancer and other diseases of the reproductive system and natural remedies that will help bring healing. Meanwhile, he strongly advises viewing his presentation “Overcome Cancer the REFRESHING Way.”
