For Heaven’s Sake…

Here’s what we have learned in this series on Breaking the Lease: Understanding the Old Covenant and the New Covenant

-God initiated only one covenant.

-It was given to Adam and Eve and repeated to Noah and Abraham.

-It had seven components, as does a real estate sales contract.

-The Law was always written in the heart of the true believer.

-God gave the new covenant also to the children of Israel.

-The children of Israel initiated another covenant, called the old covenant. It is called the old covenant only because it was ratified before Jesus died on the cross, at which time God’s covenant (called the new covenant) was ratified. God only acknowledged the covenant initiated with the faulty promise of the Israelites.

Hebrews 8:6-10 was today’s key Bible text: “But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.” (Bold type supplied)

The Bible clearly states that the fault was with them, the children of Israel, because they did not continue in the covenant they themselves initiated and made with God. The fault was not with the Ten Commandments. Remember, the second covenant, called the new covenant, was the covenant given to Abraham and actually came before the old covenant. It is only called the “second” or “new” because it was ratified after the old covenant. It was ratified at Calvary with the blood of Jesus.

Exodus 24:7,8 proves the old covenant was ratified first: “And he (Moses) took the book of the covenant, and read in the audience of the people: and they said, All that the LORD hath said will we do, and be obedient. And Moses took the blood, and sprinkled it on the people, and said, Behold the blood of the covenant, which the LORD hath made with you concerning all these words.”

These words of the children of Israel, we learned were spoken without the preface, “In the Lord’s strength … will we do, and be obedient” or “By His grace … we will do, and be obedient.”

As soon as the children of Israel initiated a separate covenant by altering the conditions with their faulty promise, Moses (their mediator) ratified the covenant with the blood of oxen (verse 5)  that he sprinkled on the people. Thus, soon after God gave a tangible copy of His law to the people, the old covenant (conditioned with their faulty promise) was ratified with the blood of animals. Again, the old covenant was not initiated first, but it was simply ratified first.

As Galatians 3:17-19 points out, the old covenant did not cancel or disannul the Abrahamic / new covenant. God was actually offering the children of Israel the Abrahamic covenant, when they added their faulty promise. They could have (like Adam, Noah and Abraham) simply received it was it was and is. Notice that the covenant initiated by the children of Israel was mediated by Moses, not by Jesus Christ. And this old covenant was immediately ratified with the blood of oxen, not the blood of Jesus.

It is critical to remember what Acts 4:12 informs us: that there is and always was only one way to be saved. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” That name is Jesus.

For Health’s Sake…

Did you know this?

The intestines need water to reverse constipation.

The liver needs water to detoxify the blood.

The kidneys need water to help with urination. (If you didn’t have a kidney, you’d need 800 glasses of water per day to do the job the kidney does in one day.)

The skin needs water to provide the medium of perspiration.

The lungs need water to aid in respiration.

The blood and lymph need water to aid in circulation.

To determine your personal required water intake, follow this simple formula: Divide your weight by two. This is the number of ounces of water you should drink every day. Increase this amount, if needed, to make your urine clear.

“Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, trust in divine power–these are the true remedies.” (Ministry of Healing, p. 127)

(Tomorrow’s broadcast will continue to address water.)
