Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Pastor Flemons explained the significance of the golden candlestick in the Holy Place of the sanctuary. He reminded us that sanctification is the objective of the Holy Place. The believer is sanctified by daily studying the Word of God, as symbolized by the table of shewbread; by being always prayerful, as symbolized by the altar of incense; and by being a witness for the LORD in service to humanity, which is often referred to as letting our light shine, as symbolized by the golden candlestick. Matthew 5:14-16; Galatians 6:9,10; 5:6 (last part); and Isaiah 58:6-8, 10, 11 are the Bible texts used today to describe the service for the LORD. Our service must be “good works” for others done in love so that GOD may be glorified and others may be drawn to Him.
Wellness: For Health’s Sake Pastor Flemons demonstrated how to make a charcoal poultice, using equal parts of hot water, flaxseed or flaxseed meal, and activated charcoal powder. The poultice may be used to draw poisons out through the skin immediately after a bee sting or other such poisonous bite. It is very effective, even after a snakebite. Unused portions of the poultice may be temporarily refrigerated or frozen for a longer period. If flaxseed is not immediately available for emergency use, activated charcoal can be mixed with coconut oil or olive oil to make a paste and, as usual, applied to a paper towel and bound to the affected area, using a saran or other waterproof wrap to minimize leakage. In the case of snakebites, it is also advisable to add 1 tablespoon of activated charcoal to a glass of water and drink it every hour as needed. This is helpful for abdominal gas, as well.
