Words of Encouragement

1 Samuel 3:1  And the child ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

For Heaven’s Sake…

Luke 9:1-2 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

First, God called the twelve disciples. Still today, God calls. It is important to know that God has called you and what He has called you to do. Then use the talents He has given you within that calling, and remain in it.

1 Corinthians 7:20 Let every man abide in the same calling wherein he was called.

The disciples were called together. They were called as a unit or into a union, similar to the union of the godhead. Togetherness is oneness and validates that God the Father sent Jesus. Unity is powerful. It empowers the world to believe in Jesus.

Psalm 133:1 Behold, how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.

John 17:21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Jesus gave them power. The message has power. By it lives are not only changed but saved. Some are saved from pornography. Some are saved from gambling. Some are saved from pride, from arrogance, from selfishness, and from me-itis.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

John 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.

(Read also Galatians 4:7-9.)

Jesus gave authority. He gave the credentials or the right to practice. As a medical or bar association authorizes practitioners to operate within a region, Jesus authorizes His practitioners to operate anywhere in the world.

“God can use every person just in proportion as He can put His Spirit into the soul-temple. The work that He will accept is the work that reflects His image. His followers are to bear, as their credentials to the world, the ineffaceable characteristics of His immortal principles.” (Ellen G. White, Testimonies for the Church, volume 7, p. 144.3)

For Health’s Sake…

Luke 9:1-2 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Jesus gave to the disciples power over devils. According to scriptural accounts, demon-possessed people were often physically affected. The manifestation of their spiritual state was visible in the state of their health. And Jesus gave the disciples power and authority to cure diseases and to preach the gospel.

Luke 13:11  And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

“And the disciples ‘went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them.’ ‘Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake…. For unclean spirits … came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. And there was great joy in that city.’” Mark 16:20; Acts 8:5-8. (Ellen G. White, Ministry of Healing, p. 139.4)

She also said, “I wish to tell you that soon there will be no work done in ministerial lines but medical missionary work.” “As religious aggression subverts the liberties of our nation, those who would stand for freedom of conscience will be placed in unfavorable positions. For their own sake, they should, while they have opportunity, become intelligent in regard to disease, its causes, prevention, and cure. And those who do this will find a field of labor anywhere.”(Counsels on Health, pp. 533, 506)

Pastor Flemons urges us all “to become intelligent in these simple methods of treatment, simple methods of learning how to heal the sick, using the biblical methods of the R-E-F-R-E-S-H-I-N-G way: relying on God, eating healthy, getting fresh air, getting rest, getting exercise, practicing self-control, drinking that H2O-water, getting out in that sun, never giving up, and giving to others. We need to understand the power of cleansing the body, because disease is simply an effort of your body to get rid of toxins. That’s what it is. That’s all it is.”

For your own sake and for the sake of those who love you, learn how to help your body bring itself back into a harmonious balance. Times of Refreshing Ministry can help you do that through field schools right in your own church or facility. Wellness retreats are held throughout the year for seventeen days per retreat. Distance coaching is available. Visit our website to begin either process. Questions are always welcome during our 6 a.m. Eastern broadcasts at 720-820-1429 (no access code is needed).
