Words of Encouragement

Malachi 3:10  Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

1 John 1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

For Heaven’s Sake…

1. Do your best in the work that lies nearest.

2. Commit your ways to God through daily prayer and obedience to God’s word.

3. Watch for indications of God’s providence. But watching is not thumb-twiddling. Use commonsense ways to confirm God’s leading. Do your research. Investigate opportunities. Weigh the evidence. Walk through the open door. Don’t force-open closed doors.

Doing your best in the work that lies nearest is the principle found in Luke 16:10: “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.” The life of Joseph, as described in Genesis 37-41, is a perfect example of not only this first step but all three steps to success, regardless of circumstances.

First Joseph was betrayed and sold to traders by his brothers. He was carried into Egypt and sold again–this time into slavery. Joseph went from being a slave in the home of Pharaoh’s captain of the guard to being the overseer of all his possessions. He had shown faithfulness and diligence in all that was placed under his responsibility. And God prospered him.

A second time, Joseph was betrayed. He was falsely accused and imprisoned. He continued to be faithful in whatever he was commanded to do. In time, the keeper of the prison placed Joseph in charge of all the prisoners. The prison prospered under Joseph.

Through a course of providential events, Joseph was elevated from prison to second in command in all of Egypt. He answered only to Pharaoh. Joseph’s faithfulness continued. As a result, Egypt and all countries through Joseph’s wise leadership survived seven long years of the global famine. In the end, Joseph saved his estranged family as well.

Joseph had been faithful in all things placed within his hand. He faithfully committed his ways to God. And he recognized the opportunity to be introduced to Pharaoh. At the opportune time, he requested to be remembered and recommended by the chief butler to Pharaoh. In due time, Joseph was elevated to the world’s highest position, under only Pharaoh.

Psalm 37:5  Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

Proverbs 16:3  Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

Isaiah 30:21  And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

“We need to follow more closely God’s plan of life. To do our best in the work that lies nearest, to commit our ways to God, and to watch for the indications of His providence—these are rules that ensure safe guidance in the choice of an occupation. Ed 267.3

“He who came from heaven to be our example spent nearly thirty years of His life in common, mechanical labor; but during this time He was studying the word and the works of God, and helping, teaching, all whom His influence could reach. When His public ministry began, He went about healing the sick, comforting the sorrowful, and preaching the gospel to the poor. This is the work of all His followers.” Ed 267.4 (Ellen G. White, Education, p. 267)

For Health’s Sake…

He says, “Migraines are allergies.” They happen as a result of an overabundance of undigested protein in the bloodstream. The body sees it as a toxin, like , and begins to mount a response. Histamine levels become raised. The blood vessels become dilated. They expand and press against the nerves. And you feel pain.

To counteract migraines, lower the levels of histamine. Most people tend to reach for the over-the-counter antihistamine. But you can get rid of migraines naturally. To do that, you must get rid of cheese, chocolate and all animal products. The common denominator in these products is that they contain the highest levels of a substance called tyrosine, which alone can trigger migraines.

Also, avoid anything that hinders digestion:

–eating between meals,

–overeating,

–sitting long or reclining immediately after meals,

–and eating too late in the evening.

Sleeping on a full stomach hinders digestion. Hindering digestion means leaving undigested protein from any source in the system. Taking a nice stroll after meals will help your foods to be fully digested. It also promotes better rest and helps relieve stress.

Eating high fiber foods is also recommended. Often the colon is irritated with waste that has remained in the system too long. Constipation irritation signals the brain to feel the pain: hence, migraines. Therefore, cleansing the colon relieves the body of waste and may be the essential thing to relieving your migraine.

Another excellent natural remedy is taking activated charcoal in a glass of water. This removes toxins. In some cases, this may be the only thing that is needed, as toxins alone may be the cause of your migraine.

To get relief from migraines, here is a simple method that you may prefer over all the others. Pastor Flemons recommends taking a hot foot bath, while keeping the head wrapped with a cold damp cloth. Doing this in a darkened room is quite calming also to the nerves. Adding soft, soothing music can promote healing as well. It is needless to say, “Avoid the noise.” Headaches in general will cause you to do that almost instinctively.

Of course, relieving stress is tremendously helpful on a number of fronts. Heightened stress levels can be a major, even singular, trigger of migraines. Reducing stress is key to improving health physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
