Worship: The Rebellion of Korah / Wellness: Atherosclerosis

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “Godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6). “Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry” (1 Samuel 14:23). Too soon the children of Israel forgot the most recent miserable failure from rebelling against God and His chosen leaders. They had lost the battle. But God saved their lives. New rebellion caused them to risk everything, including their very lives.  (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, helped listeners understand atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, and its causes. (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

Zephaniah 2:3  Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD’s anger.

Psalm 46:10-11  Be still, and know that I am GOD: I will be exalted amount the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us: the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“They had been flattered by Korah and his company until they really believed themselves to be very good people, and that they had been wronged and abused by Moses. Should they admit that Korah and his company were wrong, and Moses right, then they would be compelled to receive as the word of God the sentence that they must die in the wilderness. They were not willing to submit to this, and they tried to believe that Moses had deceived them. They had fondly cherished the hope that a new order of things was about to be established, in which praise would be substituted for reproof, and ease for anxiety and conflict. The men who had perished had spoken flattering words and had professed great interest and love for them, and the people concluded that Korah and his companions must have been good men, and that Moses had by some means been the cause of their destruction.PP 401.4

“It is hardly possible for men to offer greater insult to God than to despise and reject the instrumentalities He would use for their salvation. The Israelites had not only done this, but had purposed to put both Moses and Aaron to death. Yet they did not realize the necessity of seeking pardon of God for their grievous sin. That night of probation was not passed in repentance and confession, but in devising some way to resist the evidences which showed them to be the greatest of sinners. They still cherished hatred of the men of God’s appointment, and braced themselves to resist their authority. Satan was at hand to pervert their judgment and lead them blindfold to destruction.PP 402.1″

“God does not take rebellion lightly,” says Pastor Flemons. “Genuine rebellion is incurable.” It was their spirit of discontent that led to their outright rebellion. The very accusation they levied against Moses was really their very own character. Their cherished spirit of discontent led them away from God’s desire for them. It ended in early death.

For Health’s Sake…

When plaque builds up along the interior walls of the blood vessels and hardens, elasticity is lost. That is atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. Plaque is made up of cholesterol.

It is mainly fatty substances that come from eating animal products; animal byproducts, like eggs; dairy products; and ingesting toxins that eventually cause free radical damage to the arteries. The body attempts to heal the damaged walls by producing cholesterol and applying it like a bandage to patch the lesions. Under normal circumstances, the cholesterol is dissolved or gets moved on when the lesion is healed.

But diet causes excessive buildup. Consuming excessive sugar and experiencing excessive stress also contribute to the overproduction of cholesterol. And the cycle continues, until there is complete or nearly complete blockage of the artery.

Atherosclerosis can lead to heart attacks or strokes. Thankfully, within six months of adopting a totally plant-based, oil-free or almost oil-free diet, atherosclerosis can be reversed. It can be cured.
