Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, presented Times of Refreshing’s Top 7 weight-loss tips, with the timing of the final meal topping that list.  (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

Hosea 2:19, 20  And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

Hosea 10:12  Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, til he come and rain righteousness upon you.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. ‘Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them’ (Matthew 18:20). Where Christ is even among the humble few, this is Christ’s church, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a church.” {UL 315.5}

“The Lord Jesus will always have a chosen people to serve Him. When the Jewish people rejected Christ, the Prince of life, He took from them the kingdom of God and gave it unto the Gentiles. God will continue to work on this principle with every branch of His work. When a church proves unfaithful to the word of the Lord, whatever their position may be, however high and sacred their calling, the Lord can no longer work with them. Others are then chosen to bear important responsibilities. But, if these in turn do not purify their lives from every wrong action, if they do not establish pure and holy principles in all their borders, then the Lord will grievously afflict and humble them and, unless they repent, will remove them from their place and make them a reproach…. “{UL 131.3}

Historically, the church organization can be seen through the sanctuary message from the Courtyard to the Most Holy Place. The Jewish or Hebrew Church is the church of the courtyard. (Read John 1:11; Revelation 12:1.) The Christian Church is the church of the Holy Place. (Read 1 Timothy 3:15 and 2 Thessalonians 2:3.) The Remnant Church or last church on earth is the church of the Most Holy Place. It has existed since 1844, when Jesus moved from the Holy Place to the Most Holy Place to begin the work of judgment. (Read Revelation 14:12; 12:17; 19:10; and 1 Corinthians 1:6 and 7.)

For Health’s Sake…

  1. 1. Don’t eat late. Make your final meal about five hours before bedtime, which should be no later than 9:30 p.m. Your metabolism is fastest in the morning and slowest in the evenings, when it is the easiest to pack on the pounds.
  2.  2. Drink plenty of water, at least half your body weight in ounces every day. But drink only between meals, leaving about an hour between meals and drinking. Drinking adequate water helps curb the appetite. Also, water combines with fiber and helps to take fat out of the system through the digestive tract.
  3. 3. Eat a plant-based diet of whole foods. Eat lots of sprouts, various fruits and nuts, and whole grain products. Most of the fat you want to lose comes from eating animal products.
  4. 4. Lower your sugar consumption. Eaten in excess, sugar turns to fat, as does every food category, when eaten in excess. Fats, proteins and sugars: all turn to fat when eaten in excess.
  5. 5. Don’t snack between meals. The body needs to rest, or it will be weakened. It is best to have two and no more than three meals daily. Eat good meals so that you are not hungry between meals. And eat your heaviest meal in the morning. If you must have a third meal, make it very light, like air-popped popcorn, fruit, or a smoothie.
  6. 6. Exercise at least five times per week. A brisk morning walk, which builds cardio, is best and is all that is needed.
  7. 7. Most important is to trust God to help you stay on the program. Trusting God also helps minimize stress, an important factor in losing weight. Stress prevents weight loss.
