Worship: For Heaven’s Sake If you refuse the battle, you can know no victory. Some say, “No guts, no glory!” Pastor Flemons says, “If you’re not in the fight, you can’t win the battle!” (Read more below.)
Wellness: For Health’s Sake Pastor Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, read aloud an article that revealed french fries are potentially deadly. They found that “fries, along with other types of fried potatoes, increase our risk of mortality over the years. Other types of potato preparations didn’t seem to have the same risks involved, which suggest there’s something intrinsic about the fried-ness of French fries that makes them not just unhealthy, but actually (well, potentially) deadly.” Researchers really aren’t certain why. But they have found a link between overcooked potatoes and bread, which places a burden on the heart. They are suggesting that french fries be considered an “unhealthy risk” to be indulged in only once in awhile. Pastor Flemons advises that we lower fried foods in all cases. He says cut the potatoes like french fries and bake them with lecithin to keep them from sticking to the pan. But give up french fries, he says. They are not worth your life.

Words of Encouragement
2 Samuel 22:7, 8 In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.
Jonah 2:7, 10 When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: And my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. . . . And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land. (Also read PK 269.)
For Heaven’s Sake…
We will all go through things, whether we accept Christ as our Saviour or not. But if we accept Christ as our Saviour and allow Him to dwell within our hearts by faith, He promises that we will be rooted and grounded in love and be able to “comprehend” the “breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, that we might be “filled with all the fulness of God.” The Holy Spirit working within us is able to “do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” (Read Ephesians 3:16-21.)
“So long as we are in the world, we shall meet with adverse influences. There will be provocations to test the temper; and it is by meeting these in a right spirit that the Christian graces are developed. If Christ dwells in us, we shall be patient, kind, and forbearing, cheerful amid frets and irritations. Day by day and year by year we shall conquer self, and grow into a noble heroism. This is our allotted task; but it cannot be accomplished without help from Jesus, resolute decision, unwavering purpose, continual watchfulness, and unceasing prayer. Each one has a personal battle to fight. Not even God can make our characters noble or our lives useful, unless we become co-workers with Him. Those who decline the struggle lose the strength and joy of victory. {MH 487.2}
“We need not keep our own record of trials and difficulties, griefs, and sorrows. All these things are written in the books, and heaven will take care of them. While we are counting up the disagreeable things, many things that are pleasant to reflect upon are passing from memory, such as the merciful kindness of God surrounding us every moment and the love over which angels marvel, that God gave His Son to die for us. If as workers for Christ you feel that you have had greater cares and trials than have fallen to the lot of others, remember that for you there is a peace unknown to those who shun these burdens. There is comfort and joy in the service of Christ. Let the world see that life with Him is no failure.” {MH 487.3}
“The greater our trial,” says Pastor Flemons, “the greater our peace. The greater our trouble, the greater our victory. The deeper your walk, the deeper your experience is with God.”
