Words of Encouragement

John 16:22  And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.

2 Corinthians 4:17  For our light affliction, which is but for a moment worth for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

For Heaven’s Sake…

The Lord’s Day or the Sabbath of the Lord comes on the seventh day of every week. There are fifty-two per year.

The feasts days were days of rest, like typical holidays, that come on certain days of the month. They came only once every year.

They also were called sabbaths, in the sense that they were days of rest and only occasionally (or every seven years) coincided on a weekly seventh-day Sabbath, like any holiday. On those occasions it was a double sabbath or “high day.” (See John 19:31.)

Pastor Flemons discussed each of these feast days:  Passover, Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Feast of Ingathering, and Feast of Tabernacles.

These sabbaths are those that were referred to as ordinances, which were “a shadow of things to come.” In other words, they “prefigured the sacrifice of Christ on Calvary, and when at His death they met their antitype they automatically came to an end. These are the ‘sabbaths’ that were ‘nailed to the cross’ and abolished.” They were written by the hand of Moses.

But the Ten Commandments were “written with the finger of God.” The weekly seventh-day Sabbath, therefore, is eternal.

(For further details, please listen to the recording and read Leviticus 23 in full; Ephesians 2:14-16; Colossians 2:16, 17, 14; Exodus 31:17, 18; Isaiah 66:22, 23.)

For Health’s Sake…

There are miracles that work in harmony with natural law. And there are miracles that defy natural law. They are instantaneous miracles.

In the days of Christ’s ministry on earth, instantaneous miracles testified of His divinity. They defied natural law and confirmed His power over disease and death. No other power was allowed to do that. But it would not always be so. Supernatural power, not of God, would be allowed to contend for our faith. (Read Proverbs 28:4.)

Today, healings that result from lifestyle choices are also miracles of God. They work in harmony with natural law. Simultaneously, they build character in preparation for Heaven. They also speak of the power of God over disease and early death, as God works in and through individuals to obey the laws of health, especially at a time when we already see, as has been prophesied, “false Christs, and false prophets, …[that] shew great signs and wonder; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” (Matthew 24:24). (Read also John 3:2.)
