Worship: Our Special Work Today / Wellness: What Does Your Liver Do?

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  When Judgment was set October 22, 1844, a knowledge of the Law of God was restored to the people of God. For centuries God’s Law had been buried under the rubbish of error and false doctrine. The restoration of God’s Law is the special work of God’s people. To them is given the proclamation of “the everlasting obligation of obedience to the law of God as found in the ark. God’s last message, which is now being preached in all parts of the world, is to develop a people who ‘keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.'” (Read Revelation 14:12.)

It means repairing the breach made in the Ten Commandments right at the fourth commandment: the Sabbath. It means putting away all sin, says Pastor Flemons, who told how the medical missionary work is the entering wedge to preach the last gospel message. It gives access to the people. The time will come when the gospel message cannot move forward without the work of the medical missionary.

As the sufferings of the people are relieved, opportunities will be presented to speak to them of the love of Jesus, and they will receive it. “The story of Christ’s love will touch a chord in their hearts. . . Medical missionary work, ministering to the sick and suffering, cannot be separated from the gospel. . . .  If we were as closely connected with Christ as were His disciples, God could work through us to heal many who are suffering. {CH 534.2}

[For additional details, please read Revelation 11:18, 19; Isaiah 58:11; Psalm 119:126; Romans 13:11; and Counsels on Health (CH 533, 534), as well as the section that formed the basis of the segment: “The Special Work of All Who Enter the Most Holy Place” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 167 original. PTG 228 new edition. PTG 127, 128 online.) Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons and hear him sing Hymn 593, “In Times Like These.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, reviewed an article about the function of “the largest solid organ and the largest gland in the human body”: the liver. According to the MedicalNewsToday.com article, “What does the liver do?” the liver performs over 500 essential tasks. Its roles include “detoxification, protein synthesis, and the production of chemicals that help digest food.” In fact, the liver is classified as a part of the digestive system, says Pastor Flemons. It is involved in the breakdown of all major nutrients: fats, proteins, carbohydrates. It is the storage place for significant amounts of vitamins A, D, E, K, and B12. As such, it is an important part of the immune system.

This somewhat triangular shaped organ is located above and to the left of the stomach but beneath the lungs. It is held in place there and protected by a fibrous tissue covering called the Glisson’s capsule. Interestingly, the only organ that is larger and heavier than the liver is the skin.

The fact that the root word live in liver points to its enormous value to life itself. It is the only organ in the human body that is regenerative, even when only 20 percent of it remains functional. That is evidence of being “fearfully and wonderfully made,” according to Psalm 139:14. The greatest care for it, therefore, should take priority over any petty and whimsical food and drink cravings, especially alcohol. “Alcohol abuse is one of the major causes of liver problems in the industrialized world.” Avoid it, religiously. Instead, protect the liver with a healthy lifestyle that includes a total plant-based diet.

Sharing Time  One listener testified and asked for prayer, while another asked about the natural color of the stool. Finally, another listener asked for prayer for family members suffering with cancer.

Special Announcement from the family of one of our listeners, Debra Williams, who passed Friday, October 19.

The Memorial Service for our beloved Sister, Debra Williams, will be held at Kingdom Builder’s Ministry, 1504 North Norwood Street Wallace, NC 28466, on October 28, 2018, at 3pm.

Condolences may be mailed to 176 Bernice Blanton Drive, Teachey, NC 28464.

Special Prayer  Please include in your prayers listener 0758, who made no special request. But two other listeners requested prayer: Sis. Odessa asked that we pray for her healing (shoulder surgery), expected to happen slowly over the next six months. Pray for her patience, trust in God, finances, the  mind and heart to be still and hear God direct her, and allow herself to be cared for by her friend. Listener 2294 asked that we pray for him and relatives suffering with cancer.

Pray also for those undergoing surgery today and all grieving families (especially spouses). Pray for those fighting for their lives and against depression. Also pray for people living in areas at risk of being destroyed by hurricanes and tornadoes and other natural disasters.

Remember to continue praying for the entire TOR broadcast family, that GOD will be free to bless us in the way that HE really wants to in 2018. Thank you!

Words of Encouragement

Isaiah 58:11  And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

Luke 18:7, 8  And shall not God avenge his own elect which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. (Also read MaranathaMar 274.)
