Worship: So much owed by so many to so few / Wellness: I challenge you! Bed by 9:30 tonight!

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
Using history as the basis for his talk, Pastor Flemons quoted Wikipedia. “‘Never was so much owed by so many to so few.” [It] was a wartime speech made by the British prime minister Winston Churchill on 20 August 1940. The name stems from the specific line in the speech, Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few, referring to the ongoing efforts of the Royal Air Force crews who were at the time fighting the Battle of Britain, the pivotal air battle with the German Luftwaffe with Britain expecting an invasion. Pilots who fought in the battle have been known as The Few ever since; at times being specially commemorated on 15 September, ‘Battle of Britain Day‘.”

The same is true spiritually, says Pastor Flemons. Every living being owes so much to only eight people: Noah, his wife, and their family of three sons and their wives. Were it not for them, the flood would have destroyed every living soul. And the same is true today, says Pastor Flemons. The Bible says that the winds that are held in check now are being held by a few, until the saints are sealed in their foreheads. He invited listeners to be one of the few to whom so many owe so much.

[For further details, read Genesis 6:17; 1 Peter 3:20; 2 Corinthians 10:3-5; and please listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 570, “Not I, But Christ.”

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, challenges you to get to bed by 9:30 tonight. You need proper rest nightly. Your body builds during rest. Your immune system revitalizes during rest. Toxins are moved to areas of elimination during rest.

And when you are not resting, you are constantly building up more toxins, which cause disease. The hours prior to midnight are twice as effective as the hours of rest after midnight, says Pastor Flemons. Besides that, he says that getting proper rest is a principle of biblical wellness. Furthermore, if you fail to adhere to the biblical principle of rest, you will find that you will be borrowing sorrow from tomorrow.

Sharing and Caring Time Sis. Maria encouraged listeners with a passage from the book Power of Prayer, a collection of quotes on prayer by Ellen G. White, Chapter 7, “The Science of Prayer,” p 23.

“To live thus by the word of God means the surrender to Him of the whole life. There will be felt a continual sense of need and dependence, a drawing out of the heart after God. Prayer is a necessity; for it is the life of the soul. Family prayer, public prayer, have their place; but it is secret communion with God that sustains the soul life. {Pr 57.4}

“It was in the mount with God that Moses beheld the pattern of that wonderful building which was to be the abiding place of His glory. It is in the mount with God—in the secret place of communion—that we are to contemplate His glorious ideal for humanity. Thus we shall be enabled so to fashion our character building that to us may be fulfilled His promise, “I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.” 2 Corinthians 6:16. {Pr 57.5}

“It was in hours of solitary prayer that Jesus in His earth life received wisdom and power. Let the youth follow His example in finding at dawn and twilight a quiet season for communion with their Father in heaven. And throughout the day let them lift up their hearts to God. At every step of our way He says, “I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, . . . Fear not; I will help thee.” Isaiah 41:13. Could our children learn these lessons in the morning of their years, what freshness and power, what joy and sweetness, would be brought into their lives!”—(Education, 258, 259.) {Pr 58.1}

“Christ’s lessons in regard to prayer should be carefully considered. There is a divine science in prayer, and His illustration brings to view principles that all need to understand. He shows what is the true spirit of prayer, He teaches the necessity of perseverance in presenting our requests to God, and assures us of His willingness to hear and answer prayer.” {Pr 307.1}

Also read Psalm 54:1,2: “Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength. Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.”
