Worship: Sweet As Honey Bitter to the Belly / Wellness: When Your Tooth Hurts

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake
The Great Disappointment was prophesied in Scripture. About fifty thousand people of God had expected the second coming of Christ on October 22, 1844. But He did not come. Of the fifty thousand, only 50 remained steadfast and sought further truth. They found it in a deeper and fuller understanding of the sanctuary message.

“As these earnest seekers for truth continued their study of the Bible, the Spirit of the Lord shed light on the prophecy recorded in Revelation 10 to 11:1, 2. This revealed the fact that their failure to understand the sanctuary, and their consequent Disappointment were in themselves matters of prophecy. From the tenth chapter of Revelation, they learned that a study of ‘the little book’ of Daniel, although in the mouth ‘sweet as honey’ would[], after it was eaten, be bitter. Rev. 10:2, 8-10. They had experienced both the sweetness of its study and in their disappointment they had tasted its bitterness.

“But this disappointment was not to discourage them, said the angel: ‘Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.’ Rev. 10:10,11. How were they to be prepared to give this world-wide message? The angel continued: ‘Rise, and measure the temple of God.’ Rev. 11:1,2. What did he mean by measuring the temple of God? Uriah Smith gives this exegesis: ‘To measure any object requires that special attention be given to that object. The call to rise and measure the temple of God is a prophetic command to the church to give the subject of the temple, or sanctuary, a special examination.’ D & R 532, 1944 edition.” (PTG 161)

“If there was ever a book that we need to be studying now,” says Pastor Flemons, “it’s the Bible.” Then he sang Hymn 272, “Give Me the Bible.”

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that when your tooth hurts, there are three basic things that you can do. And he added a fourth for extremely painful toothaches.

  1. 1. Make a poultice using charcoal with flaxseed or a pulling clay. Using gauze, roll the mix into the shape of a Tootsie Roll. Pack it around the affected tooth.
  2. 2. Prepare a carrot pulp poultice in gauze and pack it around the affected tooth.
  3. 3. Apply clove oil directly to the affected tooth, using a cotton swab.
  4. 4. Swallow a dropperful of each herb in liquid or tincture form: valerian, white willow bark, and Jamaican dogwood. This will address extremely painful toothaches.

Nevertheless, preventive measures are best. That involves the simple routine of brushing your teeth twice a day and flossing daily, using the water flosser or a brush pick. Beyond that, an alkaline diet of primarily fruits and vegetables will lessen inflammation. For as the saying goes: “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure.”
