For Health and Heaven’s Sake…

“As we keep the health principles, we keep the Ten Commandments,” says Pastor Flemons.

Commandment #1 Exodus 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Philippians 3:18,19 – (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Commandment #2 Exodus 20:4-6 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;  And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

Romans 6:16 – Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Commandment #3 Exodus 20:7  Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Isaiah 4:1 – And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.

Commandment #4 Exodus 20:8-11 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Above all lower orders of being, God designed that man, the crowning work of His creation, should express His thought and reveal His glory. But man is not to exalt himself as God. – {MH 415.3}

Commandment #5 Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Ecclesiastes 7:17 – Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

Commandment #6 Exodus 20:13  Thou shalt not kill.

Note: This includes committing suicide on the installment plan by eating and drinking toxic things some dare to call “food.”

Genesis 1:29 – And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Commandment #7 Exodus 20:14  Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Psalm 106:39 – Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.

Commandment #8 Exodus 20:15  Thou shalt not steal.

When we have health destroying habits, we are robbing God and our fellow man of service.

Commandment #9 Exodus 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Isaiah 43:10 – Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Note: Whatever we do in life is part of our witness. To belong to Christ and not eat, drink, or live like it, is to bear false witness.

Commandment #10 Exodus 20:17  Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

Note: Our problem is that we covet the diet, lifestyle, and health destroying fashions of the world.

Pastor Flemons concludes that when we willfully violate health principles, we violate God’s commandments, His moral compass for us.
