Words of Encouragement

1 Peter 1:7  That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than that of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.

Psalm 91:11-12  For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their hands lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

For Heaven’s Sake…

Speaking in tongues as described in Acts 2:1-18 is an event where people of one nation and one language spoke. Under the power of the Holy Ghost, every nation listening heard in his or her own native language. It was not gibberish or some unintelligible or other worldly language, as too many suppose. Neither was it associated with any bodily trances. It clearly is an event in which the word of God was miraculously spread into every language and tongue and people globally in one day. It was Pentecost, according to schedule as directed in Leviticus 23:15 and 16.

Acts 2:1-18

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

10 Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

11 Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

13 Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

In this one day, three thousand were converted to Christianity, which was still very unpopular. (Read Acts 2:41.) It’s founder and central figure of belief had been unjustly crucified by the religious leaders of the day. The word was that He had amazingly arisen from the grave. Still, to join this group was considered risky business. But on this day and with the express purpose of saving souls, the Holy Spirit endorsed Christianity in a most publicly divine manner. Thereafter, “the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved” (Acts 2:47).

For Health’s Sake…

It may be little thought of, but doctors have overwhelming challenges in their careers and in their personal lives. The quoted statements that follow are drawn from a HealthDay News article reported on MedlinePlus.gov. The article is based on a recent study that suggests mental health treatment for medical professionals are hindered due to a perceived stigma and fear of career repercussions.

“One in three women said she had been diagnosed with a mental health condition at some point since medical school. But only 6 percent of those who were ever diagnosed or treated for a mental condition reported that information to the state, the survey findings showed.

“Some doctors even admitted to seeking care in a different city or health system, paying cash for mental health-related prescriptions or writing their own prescriptions for medication.”

Daily doctors watch patients die. Depression and anxiety become too common within the profession, where doctors are not taught to rely on God. A growing number of medical professionals are beginning to turn to biblical wellness training, as they see cures by natural means that too often don’t happen with pharmaceuticals.

Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry welcomes and invites medical professionals to its wellness retreats for a REFRESHING 17-day stay and be introduced to biblical wellness.

Times of Refreshing spells biblical wellness R-E-F-R-E-S-H-I-N-G: The R is Rely on God; E – Eat healthy; F – Fresh air; R – Rest; E – Exercise; S – Self-control; H – H2O, Drink water; I – In the sun; N – Never give up; and G – Give to others.
