Worship: The Time Appointed / Wellness: 4 Things You Must Know

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “The Bible explains itself,” says Pastor Flemons. He then showed how the earthly sanctuary in the time of Moses and Aaron symbolically represented the heavenly sanctuary. He described the sanctuary from the courtyard through the Holy Place to the Most Holy Place, as an introduction to the longest time prophecy in Scripture.

That time prophecy announced the time appointed for the arrival of the Messiah. And at the appointed time, Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea. That time prophecy announced the time for the baptism of Jesus by John. At the appointed time (AD 27), John obeyed and baptized the one whose shoe lachet he was “not worthy to unloose” (John 1:27). That time prophecy announced the death and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah. At the appointed time (AD 31), Jesus the Messiah died on the cross and rose again on the third day as appointed so that sinful mankind might gain victory over sin at last and enter into peaceful eternity with God.

That time prophecy announced the end of probation for the Jewish nation. At the appointed time (AD 34), the Jewish nation rejected mercy for the final time, and probation closed when they stoned Stephen. The time was appointed for the Gospel then officially to go to the Gentiles. Since that time, the Gospel has continued to go into all the world for a witness unto all nations and then then the end would come, as projected by that time prophecy. At the appointed time judgment was set, the books were opened, and the cleansing of the sanctuary began. Thus, the 2300-day time prophecy ended October 22, 1844, just as prophesied in Daniel 7:10 and 8:14.

That “wonderful time prophecy,” says Pastor Flemons, began in 457 BC, when Artexerxes signed the final decree for the temple to be rebuilt in Jerusalem. The 2300 “days” ended October 22, 1844, 2300 years later: a day for a year. This was the appointed time that Jesus would enter into the Most Holy Place to begin judgment, to cleanse the temple by blotting out the forgiven sins of the saints from the heavenly records, just as was symbolically done by the high priest on the day of atonement. Only this “day” of atonement (October 22, 1844) would mark the official beginning of the time of the end.

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed four things and why you need to know them. The Bible has prophesied that a time will come such as the world has never known. He quoted a statement from Ellen G. White’s Counsels on Health. It says this:

“As religious aggression subverts the liberties of our nation, those who would stand for freedom of conscience will be placed in unfavorable positions. For their own sake, they should, while they have opportunity, become intelligent in regard to disease, its causes, prevention, and cure. And those who do this will find a field of labor anywhere. There will be suffering ones, plenty of them, who will need help, not only among those of our own faith, but largely among those who know not the truth.” {CH 506.1}

We must know (1) disease is an effort of nature to rid the body of toxins and to reestablish proper balance in the body. We must know (2) that the cause of disease is the violation of the laws of health. We must know (3) how to prevent disease by following the laws of health. And we must know (4) how to cure disease by returning to the laws of health and by using the simple things in nature, while having a degree of faith in God.

“The only hope of better things is in the education of the people in right principles. Let physicians teach the people that restorative power is not in drugs, but in nature. Disease is an effort of nature to free the system from conditions that result from a violation of the laws of health. In case of sickness, the cause should be ascertained. Unhealthful conditions should be changed, wrong habits corrected. Then nature is to be assisted in her effort to expel impurities and to re-establish right conditions in the system.” {MH 127.1}

Worship: The Blessings of Service / Wellness: How Exercise Helps Every System

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “Our efforts to help others and point them to the way of life, will not only benefit them but it will ‘react in blessings upon ourselves. This was the purpose of God in giving us a part to act in the plan of redemption. He has granted men the privilege of becoming partakers of the divine nature, and in their turn, of diffusing blessings to their fellowmen. This is the highest honor, the greatest joy, that it is possible for God to bestow upon men.’ SC 83. Such lightbearing is not stinted or meager. It is thus described by Luke: ‘Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.'” Luke 6:38 (PTG)

Serving others not only is a positive witness for Christianity but it even brings with it healing of body and mind to the one doing the good to others.

[For additional details, please read Isaiah 58:6-8; SC 83; and “The Blessing of Service” in The Path to the Throne of God: The Sanctuary, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 144 original; PTG 198 new edition; PTG 110 online) Also please listen to the recording and hear Pastor Flemons sing Hymn 248, “O, How I Love Jesus.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, described the benefits of exercise on every bodily system. He says that exercise helps the circulatory system by strengthening the heart and improving the elasticity of blood vessels. Exercise helps the respiratory system by strengthening the lungs and expelling toxins from them. Exercise helps the skeletal system by strengthening the bones and locking calcium and estrogen into the bones. Exercise helps the muscular system as it strengthens muscles. Exercise helps the endocrine system by improving the balance of the hormones.

Exercise helps the integumentary system by helping to release toxins from the skin. Exercise helps the nervous system by calming the nerves. Exercise helps the gastrointestinal system by reducing stress, which correspondingly supports healthy digestion. Exercise helps the blood system by helping it produce better components. Exercise helps the reproductive system by reducing estrogen levels, which lowers the risk of cancer. And exercise helps the urinary system by pulling toxins from the blood and excreting them through the skin, which decreases the burden on the kidneys. Thus, all twelve body systems benefit from exercise, the best of which is simply walking.

Words of Encouragement

Matthew 26:42  He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done. (Also read CSA 33.5 – 33.7.)
