Worship: For Heaven’s Sake The messages to the seven churches named in Revelation hold special relevance to Christians today. They provide the main features of the seven churches from the period of the ascension of Jesus Christ to His Second Coming. They provide principles to live by and warnings to be heeded. Pastor Flemons shared the final few points of conclusion.
The Protestant Reformation had reached a point where the pope was taken captive. The protest against Catholicism’s assumed ecclesiastical authority had eased. People in Sardis started “playing church,” says Pastor Flemons. The message to the church in Sardis teaches the importance of holding true to Bible doctrine–staying pure and undefiled. The message to the church in Sardis shows what happens when the church becomes a social club, rather than teach Bible principles. It teaches that Christians must hold fast to Bible principles, that they may strengthen what remains. They were warned to watch and pray and repent, or be caught off guard.
The message to the church in Philadelphia teaches the value of patient endurance. It teaches the importance of using what little strength you may have to remain true and faithful to God, rather than deny Him. God will keep those from the hour of temptation that will come upon all the world. “That is the Sunday Law crisis,” says Pastor Flemons. Overcomers during this crisis will be made a pillar in God’s temple.
During the period of the Philadelphian church God sparked a great religious awakening. The movement broadly spanned across denominational lines, which ended in the establishment of the Seventh-day Adventist Church movement, says Pastor Flemons. This movement is to endure and to remain until the Second Coming of Christ. To it an open door remains, and no man can shut it. This is the church that goes through to the City of God.
The Laodicean message teaches that all Christians must be acutely aware of their need and be willing to be rebuked and chastened. It teaches what happens when one trusts in himself and not in God, not in the righteousness of Christ. The Laodicean feels in need of nothing. He feels that his increased goods make him rich, rather than the gold of God’s character or the perfection of Christ’s life. They must be willing to repent or be spewed out of God’s mouth.

Worship: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that you need exercise every day. Quoting Leviticus 17:11 and Proverbs 14:30, Pastor Flemons says, “Good blood and its proper circulation is the life of the flesh. God made us to get exercise. God does not want us to be couch potatoes.” The heart is a muscle that needs to work. It needs to pump through some type of exercise, like walking, gardening, or physical labor outside in the fresh air.
“It will add years to your life. It builds your immune system. It balances hormones. It strengthens muscles and bones and helps with digestion. It helps with mental acuity. It’s just so many things that exercise does,” says Pastor Flemons. “There is not a system in your body that exercise does not help,” he added, saying that it is also a great stress reliever.
The only thing left to do, people, he says is to “Get out and get that exercise.”
