Worship: Tabernacle and Priests Anointed / Wellness: Prevention Better Than Cure

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Pastor Flemons recommends reading the sections that formed the basis of his discussion about the anointing of the sanctuary. (See link below.) His talk, however, focused on the point that has shaken the remnant world and caused so many to leave the church.

Both the Holy Place and Most Holy Place are referenced simply as “holy places” in Hebrews 9:24. This became a stumbling block, says Pastor Flemons, both for those who erred in following Desmond Ford out of the church on this point, as well as for those who stayed but missed the full meaning of text. The Ford side believed that Jesus only went into one of the holy places, not both. Therefore, Pastor Flemons felt led to discuss and settle the point.  [Correction: The Ford side believed that Jesus went into the Most Holy Place at His ascension, not in 1844, says Pastor Flemons.–Feb 9.]

“For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us” (Hebrews 9:24).

Pastor Flemons drew our attention to the exchange between Jesus and Mary, before His ascension, when Mary was not allowed to touch Him, according to John’s account. Pastor Flemons points out that immediately after His brief encounter with Mary, Jesus ascended first to Most Holy Place to show Himself to His Father for His approval of Jesus’s sacrifice. This was typified by Moses, who entered into the holy places to anoint the tabernacle and its furnishings, preceding the anointing of the high priest for his priestly service.

After Jesus received the approval of His Father, He returned to Earth for forty days, according to the record in Acts. After the forty days, Jesus then ascended to Heaven to be anointed and inaugurated as High Priest to begin His priestly duties in the Holy Place, where He remained until 1844. It was then on October 22, 1844, that His investigative judgment duties in the Most Holy Place began.

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, introduced Meals Before Pills in the previous wellness segment and continued the discussion. “Prevention is better than a cure,” he said. Then, reading from Counsels on Diet and Foods, he said this:

“Many have expected that God would keep them from sickness merely because they have asked Him to do so. But God did not regard their prayers, because their faith was not made perfect by works. God will not work a miracle to keep those from sickness who have no care for themselves, but are continually violating the laws of health, and make no efforts to prevent disease. When we do all we can on our part to have health, then may we expect that the blessed results will follow, and we can ask God in faith to bless our efforts for the preservation of health. He will then answer our prayer, if His name can be glorified thereby. But let all understand that they have a work to do. God will not work in a miraculous manner to preserve the health of persons who are taking a sure course to make themselves sick, by their careless inattention to the laws of health. {CD 26.1}

“Those who will gratify their appetite, and then suffer because of their intemperance, and take drugs to relieve them, may be assured that God will not interpose to save health and life which is so recklessly periled. The cause has produced the effect. Many, as their last resort, follow the directions in the word of God, and request the prayers of the elders of the church for their restoration to health. God does not see fit to answer prayers offered in behalf of such, for He knows that if they should be restored to health, they would again sacrifice it upon the altar of unhealthy appetite.—Spiritual Gifts 4a:144, 145, 1864″ {CD 26.2}

Words of Encouragement

John 15:13  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Philippians 4:19  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

For Heaven’s Sake…

Jesus warned His disciples and all those who would become His followers:

Matthew 5:11  Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

Commenting on this verse in the book Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, Ellen White wrote these inspired words:

“Ever since his fall, Satan has worked by means of deception. As he has misrepresented God, so, through his agents, he misrepresents the children of God. The Saviour says, ‘The reproaches of them that reproached Thee are fallen upon Me.’ Psalm 69:9. In like manner they fall upon His disciples. (MB 31.2)

“There was never one who walked among men more cruelly slandered than the Son of man. He was derided and mocked because of His unswerving obedience to the principles of God’s holy law. They hated Him without a cause. Yet He stood calmly before His enemies, declaring that reproach is a part of the Christian’s legacy, counseling His followers how to meet the arrows of malice, bidding them not to faint under persecution. (MB 32.1)

“While slander may blacken the reputation, it cannot stain the character. That is in God’s keeping. So long as we do not consent to sin, there is no power, whether human or satanic, that can bring a stain upon the soul. A man whose heart is stayed upon God is just the same in the hour of his most afflicting trials and most discouraging surroundings as when he was in prosperity, when the light and favor of God seemed to be upon him. His words, his motives, his actions, may be misrepresented and falsified, but he does not mind it, because he has greater interests at stake. Like Moses, he endures as “seeing Him who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:27); looking “not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen” (2 Corinthians 4:18). (MB 32.2)

“Christ is acquainted with all that is misunderstood and misrepresented by men. His children can afford to wait in calm patience and trust, no matter how much maligned and despised; for nothing is secret that shall not be made manifest, and those who honor God shall be honored by Him in the presence of men and angels. (MB 32.3)

“’When men shall revile you, and persecute you,’ said Jesus, ‘rejoice, and be exceeding glad.’ And He pointed His hearers to the prophets who had spoken in the name of the Lord, as ‘an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.’ James 5:10. Abel, the very first Christian of Adam’s children, died a martyr. Enoch walked with God, and the world knew him not. Noah was mocked as a fanatic and an alarmist. ‘Others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment.’ ‘Others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection.’ Hebrews 11:36, 35. (MB 33.1)”

“Every test you pass,” says Pastor Flemons, “makes the next test easier. Every test you fail, makes the next failure easier. But there is always power in the blood.” Just because you failed today, doesn’t mean you are doomed to fail tomorrow.

For Health’s Sake…

Just as sweeping stirs up dust against a glass door before it is opened and the floor is finally swept clean, ridding toxins from the body can cause the person to feel sick. The body can react with the following symptoms: weakness, nausea, vomiting, sweats, diarrhea, dizziness, headaches. The answer is found in increasing the channels of elimination. Enemas might be required.

Assistance might be recommended in some cases. This is where wellness retreats help. If you can persevere through the crisis, you can succeed, says Pastor Flemons. Aborting the cleansing process, he warns, can abort the healing process.
