Worship: The Boards of the Sanctuary / Wellness: How Diet Leads to AD and Dementia

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The walls of the sanctuary were made of wood, representing humanity. They were twice as high as the court. This represents the victorious growth of the Christian as compared to life outside of the holy place, where the struggle over sin is mostly a losing battle. The corner boards, representing Jesus, were doubled in this portable sanctuary,  providing double support and corresponding to the cornerstone of the permanent temple. They represented Jesus in whom the building (like the Christian body of believers) is fitly framed together and grow into an holy temple in the Lord, whose temple we are. Also the double support reflects the double duty of the Levites, who camped around the earthly sanctuary to do its service and to care for it as it was moved from place to place.”  In the same way, “the 144,000 . . . are not only teachers of redeemed Israel, but as they follow the  Lamb whithersoever He goeth, they witness to other worlds of His saving grace.”

[For additional details, please read Galatians 4:9; Ephesians 2:21; 1 Corinthians 3:17; Isaiah 28:16; 1 Peter 2:6. Read the first four subsections of chapter 18 in The Path to the Throne of God: The Sanctuary, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck, PTG 107, 108 original; PTG 150, 151 new edition; PTG 79, 80 online. Also listen to the recording and hear Pastor Flemons sing Hymn 625, “Higher Ground,” “Enoch Walked With God,” the Scripture song of Revelation 15:3, and Hymn 338, “Redeemed.”

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, based his talk on a MedicalNewsToday.com article about Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Essentially, the article reports on a study that has discovered a link between a high-fat and high-sugar diet (HFS) and AD and dementia. The HFS diet causes high levels of inflammation and cellular stress in the brain. Also they found that insulin resistance in parts of the hippocampus is linked to the development of Alzheimer’s disease. Nevertheless, “many of the biological mechanisms underlying the onset and progression of this disease remain unknown” to the researchers. (For further details, please listen to the recording.)
