Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Pastor Flemons described the furnishings located in the Most Holy Place of the sanctuary and the articles located in them. He provided an overview of the ceremony on the Day of Atonement, explaining that atonement is essentially “at – one – ment” with God. It was a day of soul-affliction, as mentioned in Leviticus 17:29 and 30. That means the sinner’s attitude is one of “search me, O God” and “examine me,” as the psalmist pleads in Psalm 139:23 and Psalm 26:2-3. He briefly explained feast days; the ministry of Jesus, our High Priest, in the Most Holy Place; and the eradication of sin.
Wellness: For Health’s Sake Referring to an NPR report about a new bill that makes addiction only a health issue, not also a moral one, Pastor Flemons explained the danger in such a law leading to the potential loss of souls who would feel no remorse for their sin, since it is only considered a “health issue.” That shifts responsibility for sin away from the sinner. Beyond that, the Bible makes it clear that the health message is always linked to the gospel. Read Proverbs 17:22 and Isaiah 58, especially verse 8.)
