Words of Encouragement

Malachi 3:17  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Psalm 34:7  The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

For Heaven’s Sake…

Secret Weapon #1 You must submit.

James 4:7 says, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Submitting our will to God grants us access to incredible divine power to be victorious over Satan and the temptations he presents.

Secret Weapon #2 Don’t wait until the devil roars!

1 Peter 5:8,9 read “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”

Notice that we must be sober. The problem is that we too often put ourselves in harm’s way, says Pastor Flemons. We cannot afford to be drunken, either with toxic food or drink. Satan is walking about looking for our weak points. It takes sober-mindedness to watch with vigilance and resist temptations that can only provide momentary pleasures of sin. When we are sober and watchful, we are able to discern danger early enough to escape temptation.

Secret Weapon #3 Crucify the temptation.

Galatians 5:24 says “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”

Identifying the venue of your temptation and staying as far away as possible is essential in crucifying the flesh with its affections and lusts for sin. Be mindful of streets where your temptations are located (liquor or fast food outlets or certain persons for example), and avoid traveling those streets. Travel the parallel street, where possible, to arrive safely at your destination without becoming overwhelmed by temptation.

With every step engaged in resisting the devil, pray that GOD will give you the victory.

For Health’s Sake…

SAM-e acts as an analgesic (pain reliever) and has
anti-inflammatory properties. It may stimulate cartilage
growth and also affects neurotransmitters, such as serotonin,
which reduce pain perception. Two studies have shown that
it relieves OA (osteoarthritis) symptoms as effectively as non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) with fewer side effects and more prolonged benefit.

Boswellia (Frankincense) The active components (Boswellic acids) have
anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain-relieving) properties. It
also may help prevent cartilage loss and inhibit the
autoimmune process. In a 2008 study, the extract, also known
as Loxin 5, significantly improved OA pain and function
within seven days. An Indian study also revealed it slowed
cartilage damage after three months of use.

Capsicum Made from cayenne, capsaicin temporarily reduces substance P, a pain transmitter. Its pain-relieving properties have been shown in many studies, including a 2010 study published in “Phytotheraphy Research,” which revealed a 50-percent reduction in joint pain after three weeks of use. It is available as a topical cream, gel or patch.

You can make your own salve with cayenne pepper and some type of oil as a base, even Crisco. You may drink a mix of ground cayenne pepper in a liquid for pain relief, says Pastor Flemons.

Turmeric (Curcumin) Curcumin is the chemical in turmeric that can reduce joint pain and swelling by blocking inflammatory cytokines and
enzymes. A 2010 clinical trial using a turmeric supplement
showed long-term improvement in pain and function in
patients with knee OA. A small 2012 study using a curcumin
product, BCM-95, showed more reduced joint pain and
swelling in patients with active RA when compared to
diclofenac sodium.

ASU Avocado-Soybean Unsaponifiables  ASU blocks pro-inflammatory chemicals, prevents deterioration of synovial cells, which line joints, and may help regenerate normal connective tissue. A large three-year study
published in 2013 showed that ASU significantly reduced progression of hip OA compared with placebo. A 2008 meta-analysis found that ASU improved symptoms of hip and knee OA, and reduced or eliminated NSAID use.

Cat’s Claw  Cat’s claw is an anti-inflammatory that inhibits tumor
necrosis factor (TNF), a target of powerful RA drugs. It also contains compounds that may benefit the immune system. A small 2002 trial showed it reduced joint pain and swelling by more than 50 percent compared with placebo. Look for a brand that is free of tetra-cyclic
oxindole alkaloids.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids (Chia and flax are our recommendations) Omega-3s block inflammatory cytokines and prostaglandins, and are converted by the body into powerful anti-inflammatory chemicals called resolvins. EPA and DHA have been extensively studied for RA and dozens of other
inflammatory conditions. A 2010 meta-analysis found that
fish oil significantly decreased joint tenderness and stiffness in
RA patients and reduced or eliminated NSAID use.
