Words of Encouragement

Revelation 21:4-5  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

Hebrews 7:25   Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

For Heaven’s Sake…

There is a progression of spiritual growth in the Beatitudes, says Pastor Flemons. Mercy is the fifth step in the lineup, after confession, repentance, receiving Christ, and hungering and thirsting for righteousness. Believers naturally at this point feel the need to minister to others. Mercy is a ministry.

Pastor Flemons shared the story of Johnny Barnes, dubbed Mr. Happy Man of Bermuda, as a perfect example. He ministered in a simple way and made a huge difference. Until last December, he spent his entire retirement–until age 92–ministering to uplift passing drivers and riders in the city roundabout. He said, “We must love one another. The world is dying for want of love.” He passed away this past July 9, 2016, at age 93. (Access his video story here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_EX5NzqNXc.)

Inspired commentary on the merciful in part is this:

“The merciful are “partakers of the divine nature,” and in them the compassionate love of God finds expression. All whose hearts are in sympathy with the heart of Infinite Love will seek to reclaim and not to condemn. Christ dwelling in the soul is a spring that never runs dry. Where He abides, there will be an overflowing of beneficence. (MB 22.2)

“To the appeal of the erring, the tempted, the wretched victims of want and sin, the Christian does not ask, Are they worthy? but, How can I benefit them? In the most wretched, the most debased, he sees souls whom Christ died to save and for whom God has given to His children the ministry of reconciliation. (MB 22.3)

“The merciful ‘shall obtain mercy.’ ‘The soul of blessing shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.’ Proverbs 11:25 , margin. There is sweet peace for the compassionate spirit, a blessed satisfaction in the life of self-forgetful service for the good of others. The Holy Spirit that abides in the soul and is manifest in the life will soften hard hearts and awaken sympathy and tenderness. You will reap that which you sow.” (MB 23.1) (From the book, Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, by Ellen G. White)

For Health’s Sake…

One simple lesson in making healthy and tasty sauces, gravies and other condiments can make the difference in enjoying and embracing eating raw and healthy foods.

Every day during wellness retreats at Times of Refreshing, guests receive simple but valuable lessons that they can use at home to improve their lifestyle and help make their homes a little heaven on earth, says Pastor Flemons. Simple recipes that don’t keep you long in the kitchen can make a world of difference in helping people embrace the change to a healthy life-saving diet.
