Worship: For Heaven’s Sake The most excuses are made by those with the greatest opportunity and greatest privilege to know truth. The sobering thought is this. These did not make it in, says Pastor Flemons. (Read more below.)
Wellness: For Health’s Sake Hypoglycemia is low blood sugar, says Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness. Hypoglycemia puts blood sugar on a roller coaster every day. But that can change. Blood sugar can be normalized without medication. (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement
James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
John 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

For Heaven’s Sake…
Temporal pursuits were and are allowed to eclipse the real reason we are here: to vindicate the law (character) of God and eventually engage in the marriage supper of the Lamb. That is meeting Jesus in peace at His second coming.
We were born into a great controversy between Satan and God. The one great reason we exist is to honor God. Too often, however, we allow possessions, personal goals and relationships to take the priority. And we lose out on the blessings God has in store for those who honor Him in love and obedience.
Pastor Flemons admonishes us to not be selfish with excuses. Instead be a link in the chain and share what you’ve learned to help people live healthier lives. Win their confidence. Then help them get to know Christ personally. Show that Satan’s accusations are lies. God’s law can be kept. We can have the character of Christ. Excuses lead to eternal loss.
Luke 14:16-24
16 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many:
17 And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
18 And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused.
19 And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.
20 And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.
21 So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.
22 And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
23 And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
24 For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.
For Health’s Sake…
Under normal circumstances, the body is in a fasting state during the sleeping hours. Upon awakening, the blood sugar should be in a range that is often called the fasting level. About two hours after you eat breakfast, there should be a slow rise of the blood sugar to its highest level. Then it should slowly decline, so that about five hours after breakfast or any meal, the blood sugar is back at the fasting level. The brain then triggers a response. You are hungry again. You are now ready for the next meal. That is normal.
However, most people don’t have this experience, says Pastor Flemons. They usually eat donuts, pop tarts or some kind of sweet dessert-like breakfast. The blood sugar spikes. The body recognizes this as abnormal and responds by producing an abnormal amount of insulin and dumps it into the bloodstream in an effort to bring the sugar down.
The result is dramatic. The blood sugar takes a dive straight down below the fasting level. Now the blood sugar is too low. This is hypoglycemia.
But the drama isn’t over. The body now recognizes that the blood sugar is too low. That’s dangerous. The body now responds to another emergency. This time, it compensates by stimulating the adrenal glands, which are stress glands, to produce adrenaline. Sugar is pulled out of the liver in its stored form, called glycogen. The glycogen is converted to glucose as it is mixed with water. And the blood sugar rises again.
In the danger zone, when the blood sugar is too low, the body is sluggish, nervous and shaky. This is when people tend to dump a sugary snack or caffeine into the bloodstream to produce energy. And the roller coaster begins again. But the snack or caffeinated beverage is not giving energy. In fact, it is causing the body to rob the much-needed energy from its stored resources. Because the resources become so drained, headaches, allergies, and chronic fatigue issues are the result. And attitudes tend to be sour and repulsive.
This roller coaster effect can be prevented by a diet of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, whole nuts, seeds and legumes. Because they aren’t refined, they don’t raise the sugar level too fast. The body can respond in normal fashion.
Thankfully, there is help to bring the body back into its normal functioning level. Sugar can be best regulated by licorice root tea or spirulina. But fruits must be temporarily avoided, because even the smallest amount of natural sugar in them will cause the body to overreact and go out of control out of sheer habit. Once the blood sugar has normalized and the body’s response system has been retrained, fruits can be safely reintroduced into the diet. The process of renormalizing may take a full month. Just don’t give up.
