Words of Encouragement

Matthew 21:21-22  Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

Matthew 17:20-21 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

For Heaven’s Sake…

The king of Babylon had that kind of religion. And it led him to eat grass with the animals for seven full years. That was the funny farm. His heart was changed from that of a man to that of a beast. He had been warned. But he failed to heed the warning.

The warning came in the form of a dream. Greatly troubled by the dream, King Nebuchadnezzar did exactly what he did when he needed help to know and understand the meaning of an earlier dream God had given him. He sought the help of magicians, astrologers, soothsayers and the so-called wise men of Babylon, the Chaldeans.

The king had become so successful, so ambitious, and so proud-spirited that he had turned aside from the path of humility, which alone leads to true greatness. It was as though he had forgotten God. In the past, only the God-fearing Daniel could help him with a dream that had troubled him. And now, Daniel was the last person he called to interpret the dream.

“When Daniel, in response to the royal summons, stood in the king’s presence, Nebuchadnezzar said, “O Belteshazzar, master of the magicians, because I know that the spirit of the holy gods is in thee, and no secret troubleth thee, tell me the visions of my dream that I have seen, and the interpretation thereof.” After relating the dream, Nebuchadnezzar said: ‘O Belteshazzar, declare the interpretation thereof, forasmuch as all the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known unto me the interpretation: but thou art able; for the spirit of the holy gods is in thee.’ PK 517.1

“To Daniel the meaning of the dream was plain, and its significance startled him. He ‘was astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him.’ Seeing Daniel’s hesitation and distress, the king expressed sympathy for his servant. ‘Belteshazzar,’ he said, ‘let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee.’ PK 517.2

“My lord,” Daniel answered, ‘the dream be to them that hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.’ The prophet realized that upon him God had laid the solemn duty of revealing to Nebuchadnezzar the judgment that was about to fall upon him because of his pride and arrogance. Daniel must interpret the dream in language the king could understand; and although its dreadful import had made him hesitate in dumb amazement, yet he must state the truth, whatever the consequences to himself. PK 517.3

“Then Daniel made known the mandate of the Almighty. ‘The tree that thou sawest,’ he said, ‘which grew, and was strong, whose height reached unto the heaven, and the sight thereof to all the earth; whose leaves were fair, and the fruit thereof much, and in it was meat for all; under which the beast of the field dwelt, and upon whose branches the fowls of the heaven had their habitation: it is thou, O king, that art grown and become strong: for thy greatness is grown, and reacheth unto heaven, and thy dominion to the end of the earth. PK 517.4

“‘And whereas the king saw a Watcher and an Holy One coming down from heaven, and saying, Hew the tree down, and destroy it; yet leave the stump of the roots thereof in the earth, even with a band of iron and brass, in the tender grass of the field; and let it be wet with the dew of heaven, and let his portion be with the beasts of the field, till seven times pass over him; this is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which is come upon my lord the king: that they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field, and they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and they shall wet thee with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over thee, till thou know that the Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever He will. And whereas they commanded to leave the stump of the tree roots; thy kingdom shall be sure unto thee, after that thou shalt have known that the Heavens do rule.’ PK 518.1

“Having faithfully interpreted the dream, Daniel urged the proud monarch to repent and turn to God, that by rightdoing he might avert the threatened calamity. ‘O king,’ the prophet pleaded, ‘let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if it may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.’ PK 518.2

Still, Nebuchadnezzar’s heart was not transformed by the grace of God, although for a time, the warning and counsel weighed heavily upon him. The judgment lingered, and he lost confidence in the words of Daniel about the dream. One year after the dream of warning, King Nebuchadnezzar walked through the palace, extolling his greatness and claiming for himself the honor due to God. At that moment a voice from heaven repeated the judgment. From that moment, Nebuchadnezzar’s life changed. For the next seven years, he lived like an animal. His body hairs became like eagles’ feathers, his nails like birds’ claws.

At the end of the seven years, his reason returned, and he humbled himself and praised the God of heaven. He had learned at last that true greatness consists in true goodness. No longer was the tyrannical, overbearing ruler a proud monarch, but a wise and compassionate king, similar to the King of Kings, the God of heaven. God’s purpose was finally fulfilled: that the greatest kingdom in the world would show praise to the God of heaven. That is true greatness.

For Health’s Sake…

The chlorophyll in green vegetables are calming and healing to the mind. As was mentioned in the morning’s worship segment, the seven-year, plant-based diet of King Nebuchadnezzar healed his deranged mind. He ate grass. So it is today. There is a biblical wellness value in juicing to cure mental illness.

Use celery or cucumber juice as a base, with dark green vegetables, like kale, spinach, Swiss chard, arugula, and/or cilantro. Season the combination with whole lemons, Granny Smith apples, and ginger. This makes the green juice palatable, even tasty. Drink 96 ounces daily for a minimum of ten days.

The base should be one-half of the total ounces. For this, use cucumber and/or celery. One-fourth should be dark green vegetables. The remaining fourth should be the flavoring elements: lemons or lime, Granny Smith apples, and ginger. Beets may also be included in the remaining fourth.

This combination will help the various forms of mental illness: depression, anxieties, paranoia, and schizophrenia. It balances brain chemicals and hormones. And it is good for so many conditions in the body.

Additionally, Times of Refreshing has a tasty Happiness Tea/Tonic that is highly recommended. It contains St John’s Wort, Kava Kava, Ginkgo Biloba, Gotu Kola, Stevia. These are the herbs that are good for mental conditions.
