Worship: It’s Not What You Think! / Wellness: The Kidneys and the Plan of Redemption

Please see the property Times of Refreshing is claiming in faith as our new headquarters to save lives and train lifesavers. Then please ask God how you can be blessed to help. Give here: GoFundMe.com/TORSavesLives.

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  It is not the organization that is listed in the Lamb’s Book of Life, says Pastor Flemons. Nor is it membership in any organization that saves anyone. It is having faith in and being faithful to God, our heavenly Father, and Him only. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed the kidneys, using an NIH.gov site as a resource. (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

1 Corinthians 2:5  That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Isaiah 48:10  Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“Some of the Pharisees had come to Jesus demanding ‘when the kingdom of God should come.’ More than three years had passed since John the Baptist gave the message that like a trumpet call had sounded through the land, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Matt. 3:2. And as yet these Pharisees saw no indication of the establishment of the kingdom. Many of those who rejected John, and at every step had opposed Jesus, were insinuating that His mission had failed. DA 506.1

“Jesus answered, ‘The kingdom of God cometh not with outward show; [margin]: neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.’ The kingdom of God begins in the heart. Look not here or there for manifestations of earthly power to mark its coming. DA 506.2

“It is as true now as in apostolic days, that without the illumination of the divine Spirit, humanity cannot discern the glory of Christ. The truth and the work of God are unappreciated by a world-loving and compromising Christianity. Not in the ways of ease, of earthly honor or worldly conformity, are the followers of the Master found. They are far in advance, in the paths of toil, and humiliation, and reproach, in the front of the battle ‘against the principalities, against the powers, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.’ Eph. 6:12, R. V. And now, as in Christ’s day, they are misunderstood and reproached and oppressed by the priests and Pharisees of their time. DA 508.4

“The kingdom of God comes not with outward show. The gospel of the grace of God, with its spirit of self-abnegation, can never be in harmony with the spirit of the world. The two principles are antagonistic. ‘The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.’ 1 Cor. 2:14. DA 509.1

“Now, as in Christ’s day, the work of God’s kingdom lies not with those who are clamoring for recognition and support by earthly rulers and human laws, but with those who are declaring to the people in His name those spiritual truths that will work in the receivers the experience of Paul: ‘I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me.’ Gal. 2:20. Then they will labor as did Paul for the benefit of men. He said, ‘Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.’ 2 Cor. 5:20. DA 510.2”

Please listen to the recording for a brief discussion on the example of early Protestants, who were primarily Catholic priests, seeking to show their love and devotion to God rather than to any organization.

For Health’s Sake. . .

“The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs, each about the size of a fist. They are located just below the rib cage, one on each side of the spine.” Inside the kidneys are filtering units that hold onto the good and release the bad or waste with extra fluid. This is called urine. Each kidney has one ureter that is connected to the body’s one bladder. Here the urine remains until the bladder is filled to capacity. At capacity, the brain is signaled to release the urine. “When the bladder empties, urine flows out of the body through a tube called the urethra, located at the bottom of the bladder. In men the urethra is long, while in women it is short.”

Pastor Flemons shared these points about the kidneys and how we may see the plan of salvation in the human body:

  • Every day, the two kidneys filter about 120 to 150 quarts of blood to produce about 1 to 2 quarts of urine, composed of wastes and extra fluid. [Seeing urine as sin and the blood as grace, we can more clearly understand that “where sin abounded, grace did much more abound” (Romans 5:20.)]
  • The kidneys are important because they keep the composition, or makeup, of the blood stable, which lets the body function.
  • Each kidney is made up of about a million filtering units called nephrons. The nephron includes a filter, called the glomerulus, and a tubule. [Each of us Christians should see ourselves as a nephron. If we concentrate on our own job of getting rid of sin in ourselves, without worrying ourselves over what someone else is or is not doing, then we all would be more successful in achieving God’s ultimate goal for us all.]
  • The nephrons work through a two-step process. The glomerulus lets fluid and waste products pass through it; however, it prevents blood cells and large molecules, mostly proteins, from passing. The filtered fluid then passes through the tubule, which sends needed minerals back to the bloodstream and removes wastes. [Experiences of trials and tribulations refine us so that we keep the good or the gold and expel the bad.]

This process of filtering is likened to purification and of becoming like Christ in character. Get rid of the waste of sin. Hold on to that which is good and eternal. Hold on to the Rock Christ Jesus.
