Many major denominations crowd the map of modern Christianity. Yet they all claim to believe the same manual: the Holy Bible. Why so many?

Unless you are on a fluid-restricted diet, the following information regarding water is for you.

For Heaven’s Sake…

The corporate world, unlike the religious world, would not tolerate one manual with many interpretations of its policies.

The Bible, unlike and more than any other book, must be approached with a certain mindset and prayer. “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2 Peter 1:21).

As the Holy Spirit is the true author of the Holy Bible, He is also the Teacher to guide us to a true understanding: “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth” (John 16:13, first part).

Isaiah 28:9 is the key text used in this morning’s Worship segment of the broadcast: “Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.”

Weaned from the milk? Pastor Flemons offered another text to help understand the first. Psalm 131:1,2 indeed does. “LORD, my heart is not haughty [proud], nor mine eyes lofty [highminded]: neither do I exercise myself in great matters  or in things to high for me [given to impressing others]. Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.”

Further, Hebrews 5:12 and 13 clarify that one who is on milk refers to that one who “is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.”

Drawn from the breasts? By love are we drawn, according to Jeremiah 31:3: “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” And “We love him, because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19). The visual is obviously that of a mother, a nurturing woman. In the Bible, however, a woman often represents the church. Here, it represents a mother church. (See Jeremiah 6:2 and Isaiah 51:16.)

Historically, and sadly, tradition in the church as espoused by various church leaders has been the greatest hindrance to understanding the Bible as written. God raised up reformers to end erroneous teaching and promote relying on the Bible alone. As Protestants, we have become complacent, accepting whatever a church leader says, regardless of Bible truth. Hence, many denominations with varying beliefs “based” on the Bible crowd the same scene.

To study the Bible, we must

(1) be humble; be prayerful;

(2) have a loving relationship with Christ, surrendering ourselves to Jesus;

(3) follow Him wherever He leads;

(4) be willing to leave even our mother church, if necessary.

He wants us to worship Him in spirit and in truth (John 4:24).

For Health’s Sake…

Water, generally speaking, is best in the form that it comes from God. Water comes from the sky. Therefore, rainwater, also called distilled water, or some other soft, pure water, is recommended. Obviously, it is not advisable to drink rainwater in many places, such as smog-laden cities and places where chemicals dominate the atmosphere. Water from a mountain spring is good for drinking.

The ounces of water required daily is personal and according to your weight. Divide your weight in half, and drink that amount in ounces.

Do not drink much more than an occasional sip with your meals.

Dink about an hour before or after meals to avoid inhibiting proper digestion.

Upon rising, drink 16 ounces of warm lemon water. Squeeze one lemon into the 16 ounces of warm water.

Do not drink large amounts of water at one time. Drink your quota of water throughout the day.

If herbal tea is in your lifestyle regimen, it may substitute for your intake of water. However, if you must sweeten it, use Stevia, a plant-based sweetener. Honey, or any sweetener that has calories, tends to dilute the healing properties of the herb.

Do not gulp.

Do not drink liquids that are too hot or too cold, as the body becomes stressed and weakened to maintain its optimal temperature.

In a relatively lively Q&A session, we learned that slightly alkaline water is beneficial to drink. However fruits and vegetables, some nuts (like Brazil nuts and almonds), some grains (like millet), and juicing provide alkalinity in the diet.
