Worship: Work of Little Horn Destroys Knowledge of Sanctuary / Wellness: Deep Breathing and Blood Pressure

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The Bible tells of a little horn that became powerful, even to magnify himself to the prince of the host. That means, says Pastor Flemons, “that he was trying to replace Christ,” the Prince of Hosts.

In the process, the knowledge of the sanctuary was well nigh obliterated. The Catholic church (represented by the little horn), says Pastor Flemons, does not want anyone to understand the sanctuary message, because through it we learn of an “all-atoning sacrifice” and an all-powerful savior and mediator.

“The sanctuary,” says Pastor Flemons, “reveals that we’re not supposed to pray to . . . a man in a confessional box. It would let us know that the Sabbath is still binding. It would let us know through the Table of Shewbread that the Word of God is still to be eaten today. It would show that there is power in the blood.”

This is only the prophetic fulfillment of Daniel 8. Daniel was shown that this little horn would take away the daily sacrifice and cast down the sanctuary and truth to the ground. In this, it would persecute God’s people and suppress Bible truths and would prosper in its practice! The sanctuary and the host would be given to him “to be trodden under foot.”

“During the Dark Ages,” says Pastor Flemons, “you couldn’t even own a Bible. . . . The change of the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday: That was a child of the Papacy,” he says. “Those of you who worship on Sunday, you’re not worshipping in accordance with the Bible. You’re worshipping on a day that was changed by the Catholic church. It’s not in the Bible. And they claim that it’s their mark of authority.” The seventh-day Bible Sabbath is as eternal as the Royal Law. It is the fourth of the Ten Commandments.

“Satan invents unnumbered schemes to occupy our minds, that they may not dwell upon the very work with which we ought to be best acquainted. The archdeceiver hates the great truths that bring to view an atoning sacrifice and an all-powerful mediator. He knows that with him everything depends on his diverting minds from Jesus and His truth.” {GC 488.1}

If you don’t understand the sanctuary, says Pastor Flemons, you don’t understand the plan of salvation.

[For additional details, please read Daniel 8:9-27; Ezekiel 4:6; Numbers 14:34; Luke 9:1,2The Great Controversy, by Ellen G. White, GC 488, and read “The Work of Antichrist–‘the Daily'” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 208, 209 original; PTG 282, 283 latest edition; PTG 157, 158 online.) Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who prayerfully sang portions of several songs, concluding with “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that deep breathing lowers your blood pressure. Shallow breathing elevates it. Pastor Flemons, who provided a breathing exercise, says don’t allow your chest to rise when you take inspirations. Instead, let your stomach rise when you inhale and fall when you exhale. Notice a baby’s stomach during breathing. Loosen your clothing around your midsection, and follow the baby’s lead.

(For more details, please listen to the recording.)

Words of Encouragement

Joshua 6:5  All the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat.  (Also read Conflict and Courage for April 22, CC 118.)

Worship: Both a Price and Reward for Loyalty / Wellness: Sweet to the Bone

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  No amount of persecution can take away the joy that comes from serving and loving the Lord, says Pastor Flemons. He referred to the account of the Apostle Paul, whose life turned miserable once he decided to follow Jesus. He was even persecuted by the church to which he once belonged and was highly regarded. These persecutions are recounted in a list in 2 Corinthians 11:22-28, which Pastor Flemons read to listeners.

Four of the five times the Apostle Paul was held by the Jews, he was beaten with forty strips. Three times he was beaten with rods. He was stoned. He was shipwrecked three times. He spent a night and a day in depths of the sea. “In journeyings often,” he said, “in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren. In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.”

“But none of these things move me,” added Paul, “neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24).

The same goes for us, says Pastor Flemons. “Joy comes only from following Jesus.”

[For additional details, please read 2 Corinthians 11:22-28; and listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed the effects of sugar on the bones. An average of 52 teaspoons of sugar is consumed daily, says Pastor Flemons. Sugar is acidic, and it has no nutritive value at all. Therefore, the more sugar consumed, the more the bones are drained of calcium to alkalinize the blood. Consequently, calcification sets in the joints. The result is arthritis and osteoporosis.

Be sparing with sweets and remain healthy and strong. Sweets no more than twice a week may be okay, says Pastor Flemons. But it is better to use molasses or honey. They are sweet and nutritious.

(For more details, please listen to the recording.)

Words of Encouragement

Proverbs 6:23, 24  For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: to keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.  (Also read Numbers 25; Numbers 31:16and Conflict and Courage for April 19, CC 115.)

Hebrews 1:14   Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?  (Also read Prayer, Pr 224.2, 225.1.)

Worship: How to Study the Bible, Part 1 / Wellness: Less Is More

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “The sanctuary keeps you focused on Jesus,” says Pastor Flemons. And the Bible gives us Jesus. “When the Bible tells us something, we should take it literally,”until we can see that we must take it symbolically.

Certainly, you must approach the Bible and biblical themes with a humble and teachable spirit. If you approach Bible study with an all-knowing attitude, you won’t learn anything. First you need to learn of Jesus and accept Him as your personal Savior. The relationship with Jesus must be so solidified that we will be willing to leave even our mother church to follow Him.

[For additional details, please read Isaiah 28:7-9; Psalm 131:1,2; Hebrews 5:12; and 1 Peter 2:2. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that if you are guilty of eating too much food, skip a meal and get on the right track. Eat nutrient-rich foods. Eat two meals a day, ideally at 9 – 10 a.m. and 3 to 4 p.m. If you must eat your first meal really early and require a third meal, make that third meal a smoothie or a fruit meal for easy digestion.

(For further details, please listen to the recording.)

Genesis 25:34  Thus Esau despised his birthright. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 61.)

Isaiah 53:10  Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 57.)

Worship: The Candlestick, Why So Detailed / Wellness: Kaven’s Testimony, Keeping Children Healthy

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The candlestick in the holy place of the sanctuary was the only article in the holy place made of pure gold. The table of shewbread and altar of incense were made of shittim wood and were only covered with pure gold. The pure gold of the candlestick signifies that the resulting experience of the discipline of trials lead to the golden state of perfection. What is required by the Christian, however, is “entire conformity to God’s law” (AA 567).

“The candlestick, or lampstand, had one main shaft, with three branches projecting from each side. These six branches were alike, each having ‘three bowls made after the fashion of almonds, . . . a knop and a flower,’ ‘resembling lilies’ PP 348–nine ornaments in each branch. The main shaft had four bowls made like almonds, his knops, and his flowers,–twelve ornaments. Thus, the shaft and the six branches had sixty-six ornaments. Under each of the three pairs of branches was a knop–three more ornaments. Including the ornamental base, the candlestick had, therefore, a total of seventy ornaments.” Such details were intentional and very meaningful, as it was made according to the exact pattern to teach important spiritual truths pertaining to the plan of salvation, as we shall see in the days ahead.

[For additional details, please read Exodus 25:31-40 and “The Parts of the Candlestick” in The Path to the Throne of God: The Sanctuary, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 138 original; PTG 190 new edition; PTG 105 online) Also please listen to the recording and hear Pastor Flemons sing “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus.”]

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, introduced Sis. Kaven Ible, who shared her divinely led experience in healing asthma and bronchitis in two foster children. One child had been hospitalized multiple times, until placed in her care. The second child had been only fed milk formula for a full fourteen months and was suffering with bronchitis, until placed in her care. She told of her challenges with school officials to cooperate with her in addressing disease with diet. When they finally did, they were amazed at the results, plus improved countenance and behavior.

Over the years, Kaven has shared with others the herbal formula God led her to make to clear the lungs and blood and to strengthen the immune system. (See herbal formula below.) Pastor Flemons said that its ingredients are near to the letter of TOR’s Lung Immune Tea.

(For further details, please listen to the recording and hear Sis. Kaven’s encouraging testimony for yourself.)

Worship: True Force of the Will / Wellness: Meals Over Pills to Prevent Hypertension

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  It is one thing to desire to do God’s will. It is another to choose to do His will. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says, “If you eat the right meals, you won’t need the pills.” He added that the same diet that prevents high blood pressure or hypertension helps to cure it. Because of an acidic diet of flesh as food and a stressful lifestyle, inflammation builds. That then causes a plaque buildup, which causes a constriction of the blood vessels. He advises a total plant-based diet, which will decrease inflammation, naturally lower cholesterol and reduce salt and vasoconstriction. Getting rid of high blood pressure is one of the easiest things to do, he says.  (For further details, please listen to the recording and watch his YouTube video “The Whiter the Bread the Sooner You’re Dead.” )

Worship: What It Means to Press Toward the Mark / Wellness: Benefits of Shavegrass

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Christians are lifelong volunteers, soldiers in God’s army against His foe, Satan. It is a battle that is not carnal. It is not against flesh and blood, as is erroneously thought and frequently seen. It is spiritual warfare: against powers and principalities, against rulers of darkness in the world and against spiritual wickedness in high places. (Read Ephesians 6:10-18.) It requires full spiritual armor from head to toe. Every piece represents Christ from the helmet of salvation, which is the mind of Christ,  to the breastplate of His righteousness, to the shield of His faith, to the sword of His Spirit, which is the Word of God in the mission of the gospel of peace, wherever we go. It means laying aside every other weight and going on unto perfection with a focus that is ever forward and never backward.

[For additional details, please read Ephesians 6:10-18; 1 Peter 2:12; Hebrews 6:1, 2; Ephesians 4:22, 27-32; and EW 119.1. Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Shavegrass aka horsetail (but not a real horse’s tail!) has a high silica content, making it especially useful in external preparations for hair and skin support. Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, introduced listeners to a WellnessMama.com article, which reports that this amazing herb can be used also for polishing metal. Known for its anti-inflammatory properties, horsetail is also known for its antibacterial, antimicrobial, antioxidant, coagulant, demulcent (soothing), diuretic and astringent activity. It has broad use, including use for brittle bones, hair, teeth, gingivitis, tonsillitis, edema, itchiness, rashes, burns, frostbite, cracked and tired feet, and the list goes on.   (For additional details, please read the article and listen to the recording.)
