Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Pastor Flemons focused on having peace, even in the midst of a storm. He set the pace with Psalm 119:165, “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” Explaining that peace is ordained of God, Pastor Flemons shared Bible promises: Isaiah 26:3, 12; 54:10; 62:10-12; Psalm 46:1-3. He then warned against being a wayside hearer (Matthew 13:19), who does not really surrender the heart to GOD. As such he cannot gain understanding or the knowledge that holy people receive from GOD. (See Proverbs 9:10.)
Wellness: For Health’s Sake Pastor Flemons defined depression, stress and distress. Stress is not the problem; distress is. Explaining how life choices can cause depression, Pastor Flemons cautioned against watching TV, especially high drama and horror shows and watching a lot of TV in childhood and adolescence. Rapid screen changes stimulate the brain, causing depression when TV watching ends. Relying on GOD is key: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; … It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones” (Proverbs 3:5-8).
