Worship: What Defiles You? / Wellness: CFS, A Kind of Hybernation?

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “The issue is the heart,” says Pastor Flemons. Out of the heart flows evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sex between unmarried partners, thefts, false witness, and blasphemies. These are the things that are defiling you, according to Matthew 15:19 and 20. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Trending health issues today were pulled from www.sciencedaily.com. Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness and naturopathy, chose three issues and discussed them. (Read more below.)

QT/QT  A question about apple cider vinegar led to Pastor Flemons sharing this information: Although apple cider vinegar has some health benefits, like lowering the blood sugar, it also hinders the digestion of starches. TOR prefers to use herbs and foods that help and heal without negative side effects. Vinegar is only used topically or externally, rather than internally, except in cases of an emergency.

For Heaven’s Sake…

As usual, contention arose between two factions in early Christendom. This time, the contention was between the scribes and Pharisees on the one hand and Jesus Christ and His disciples on the other. This time, the contention was over the traditional ceremonial handwashing when eating bread.

The disciples were accused of breaking the ceremonial hand-washing tradition of the elders. The scribes and Pharisees pressed Jesus to explain why. Jesus told them they were breaking the commandment of God in honoring their tradition. Then He called together the crowd. He told them a parable, which He later interpreted for the disciples who questioned what He meant.

Verses 15 through 20 of Matthew 15 reads this way:

15 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.
16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
This parable, although clearly explained in Scripture–even in the same chapter, has been and continues to be abused in the effort to excuse the unhealthy eating of unclean meats, such as pork, which poisons the blood. As a result, many people are suffering many diseases. And too many people are dead today, because of misunderstanding this parable, says Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness and naturopathy. The subject of contention had nothing to do with the kind of food itself. The contention was over the eating of bread without the traditional ceremonial ritual of washing the hands before eating bread. Pastor Flemons says he is not certain just what that method was; it could have made them believe that washing in a ritualistic manner made them more holy. He is certain that you should still wash your hands very well before eating.
Regardless, “Jesus rebuked the leaders for teaching things that were traditions and placing them above the word of God.” This was not a license to eat any and everything. It is a license to eat without ceremonially washing the hands. Still, wash your hands before you eat. That is good hygiene.
For Health’s Sake…
*A 5-year study reveals that patients who are operated on at night are twice as likely to die from the operation than are patients whose operations occur during daytime hours. (Science Daily‘s source for this study is the World Federation of Societies of Anesthesiologists.)
Pastor Flemons suggests avoiding nighttime operations. But more importantly, he believes in avoiding operations altogether as much as
possible by adopting a biblically healthy lifestyle, such as eating an alkaline diet, drinking adequate water, and avoiding the flesh of unclean dead animals as food. Times of Refreshing Wellness Ministry calls it the REFRESHING Way lifestyle. Furthermore, he says many operations are not necessary.
*Many adults who screen positive for depression don’t receive treatment, because there is an information gap, as reported by the JAMA Network Journals according to Science Daily.
Pastor Flemons decries the emphases being placed on medication and the judgment that there is a neglect when a drug is not prescribed. He says, “That’s a wrong way of looking at things.” There is a biblically sound way of treating depression. And Times of Refreshing has a combination of herbs that help reverse anxiety and increase seratonin, which calms and balances the mental state. But there is simply healing in the word of GOD, alone.
TOR’s herb combination for depression is available here:

Depression comes sometimes from wrong decisions made that redirected the course of our lives. Read the story of Samson, Pastor Flemons suggests. Although Samson wasted his life with womanizing, in the end he did more within a few moments than in his whole lifetime to accomplish what God intended for him. He reduced the number of people who were killing God’s people. “If you are alive, God has a plan for you,” says Pastor Flemons.
*A characteristic chemical signature for CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) has been identified as being akin to hybernation, so says the University of California – San Diego as reported in Science Daily. In other words, when life gets too hard to bear, a type of hybernation occurs: chronic fatigue syndrome.
Pastor Flemons says CFS comes from toxins and abusing your body. And there is a simple answer. Stop abusing your body with caffeinated drinks, eating chocolates and harmful products and foods, being too busy, too stressed, and never going to bed on time. “You’re just tired!” He says, “There is a solution in God’s plan. Hybernation?? Bear with me!” Then he added, “Pun intended.”
