Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Don’t be too quick to get rid of tares in the church community. Taking the DIY method of purifying the church can never work. In uprooting them, you may uproot tender Christians who are related to the tares biologically or otherwise are entangled with them. (Read more below.)
Wellness: For Health’s Sake Labor Day health cannot be found in barbecuing anything. Grills harbor cancer-causing toxins. “Eat nothing cooked on a grill,” says Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness and naturopathy. (Read more below.)

For Heaven’s Sake…
For the same reason, says Pastor Flemons, God did not destroy Lucifer immediately when he sinned. It wasn’t immediately clear to the innocent angels that Lucifer was evil. It wasn’t until Satan (formerly Lucifer) put Jesus on the cross that it was clear how evil he is.
Furthermore, tares and wheat look similar in the early stage of growth. Mistakes in proper identification can be made easily at this stage. Just living for Jesus will often cause tares to be uncomfortable and leave on their own, Pastor Flemons insists. “The devil can’t handle righteousness.”
Redwood trees, on the other hand, are unmistakable. Open rebellion in the church community must be dealt with and removed. A separation in such cases are required. Open sin must not be tolerated.
This is not specific to denominations, says Pastor Flemons. It refers to all professing Christians. Handling tares, whose actions are more subtle, requires wisdom and patience to wait on the Lord. At harvest time, those who bear fruit will be easily distinguished from the tares who will be barren. The fruit of the Spirit cannot at that (harvest) time be feigned: love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against which is no law. (Read Galatians 5:22 and 23.) For example, Stephen was being stoned when he revealed the fruit of the Spirit. In love, he asked for forgiveness for those stoning him and then died. This cannot be done without the Spirit of God. (Read Acts 7:54-60. For a fuller account, begin at Acts 6:8.)
The parable of the wheat and the tares is found in Matthew 13:24-30:
30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
For Health’s Sake…
“Don’t just eat what tastes good,” says Pastor Flemons, “it can cause you to reap a harvest of disease.” Eating the flesh of dead animals has a payback day. Don’t let your Labor Day lead to payback day. Payback day can be deadly. Holidays sometimes kills, because people eat so horribly while celebrating, says Pastor Flemons.
Eat to live! Don’t live to eat. Live by eating lots of fruits and vegetables. Get outside and exercise today. Let this holiday jump-start you to a new healthy lifestyle.
