Worship: Under Fire / Wellness: 3 Things That Don’t Make Sense

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The Beatitudes help us understand what should be our attitudes, says Pastor Flemons. When our attitudes are right, we can receive the blessings of the LORD. Pastor Flemons says how we act under fire tells a lot. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake There are three things that don’t make sense but do make money, says Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness and naturopathy. (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement

John 6:47-48  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life.

John 16:26-27  At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you. For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.

For Heaven’s Sake…

The Beattitudes in Matthew 5 reveal a progression of spiritual growth. First, the sinner must sense a need of God–that he is poor in spirit–in order to receive the kingdom of heaven (verse 3). Next, he or she must repent. There must be true heart sorrow for sin; for those who mourn shall be comforted (verse 4). The Holy Spirit is the Comforter. Next, as the Holy Spirit begins to control the life of the repentant sinner, there is a spirit of meekness that begins to pervade the life.

But what is this meekness? Is it weakness? Is it humility? Pastor Flemons says, “Meekness is humility under fire.” The companion book for this series, Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, by Ellen G. White, offers inspired commentary to further define meekness.

“Patience and gentleness under wrong were not characteristics prized by the heathen or by the Jews. The statement made by Moses under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, that he was the meekest man upon the earth, would not have been regarded by the people of his time as a commendation; it would rather have excited pity or contempt. But Jesus places meekness among the first qualifications for His kingdom. In His own life and character the divine beauty of this precious grace is revealed.” (MB 14.1)

This third element in spiritual growth confirms conversion. “When you give your heart to God, and you are serious about your walk, you’re going to invite persecution,” says Pastor Flemons. “The devil sees that you are a tool in the hands of Christ and that you will be able to save souls and pull them out of sickness, misery and sin… Satan realizes how powerful an instrument that you are going to be. So he turns up the heat.”

All those who live godly for Jesus Christ shall suffer persecution. (Read 2 Timothy 3:12.) How we react is either a witness for Jesus or a witness for Satan.

Meekness does not mean weakness. You don’t need to allow yourself to be beaten to show meekness. The question is this: Are you going to retaliate? Show bitterness? Anger?

Rather, this is when God wants us to shine for Him. Think of Moses, who had to lead a million rebellious and clamoring people. Often he had to stand up against them all and tell them the truth or show them the error of their ways. Still, he had to be like Christ. He had to show the love of Christ. He showed that meekness has another element besides humility. “We are supposed to be humble at all times,” says Pastor Flemons. But humility, gentleness, and patience with strength and love under fire, when you are done wrong, is meekness. This will be a powerful witness for Christ.

Matthew 5:5  Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

For Health’s Sake…

Those three things are simply these:

  1. 1. Living a lifestyle that causes sickness, just because it feels good, sounds good, tastes good, etc.
  2. 2. Treating diseases caused by toxins with more toxins
  3. 3. Dying before your time

It is no longer safe to consume dairy products or eat the flesh of dead animals. Animals are filled with drugs, and then humans are consuming the animals and animal byproducts as food, getting sick, and then dying. That does not make sense.

Ecclesiastes 7:17 (last part)  Why shouldest thou die before thy time?

Disease is simply an alarm that is letting you know that you are dying before your time, says Pastor Flemons.

To continue doing these three things will never make sense, but will continue to make money.

1 Timothy 6:10  For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
