Worship: For Heaven’s Sake “Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God,” said Jesus according to Matthew 5:9. The Beatitudes help us understand what should be our attitudes, says Pastor Flemons. When our attitudes are right, we can receive the blessings of the LORD. (Read more below.)

Words of Encouragement
Colossians 3:23-24 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the LORD Christ.
Psalm 37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

For Heaven’s Sake…
“We cannot make peace by compromising with evil,” says Pastor Flemons. We can, however, find a way to agree with our adversary, according to Matthew 5:25 and Luke 12:58, he says. But it may take the constraining love of Christ to do it. (Read 2 Corinthians 5:14.)
Commenting on Matthew 5:9, Ellen G. White, in the book Thoughts From the Mount of Blessing, was inspired to write this:
“Christ’s followers are sent to the world with the message of peace. Whoever, by the quiet, unconscious influence of a holy life, shall reveal the love of Christ; whoever, by word or deed, shall lead another to renounce sin and yield his heart to God, is a peacemaker. (MB 28.1)
“And ‘blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.’ The spirit of peace is evidence of their connection with heaven. The sweet savor of Christ surrounds them. The fragrance of the life, the loveliness of the character, reveal to the world the fact that they are children of God. Men take knowledge of them that they have been with Jesus. ‘Everyone that loveth is born of God.’ ‘If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His;’ but ‘as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.’ 1 John 4:7; Romans 8:9, 14.” (MB 28.2) (The book may be accessed online at this link: http://www.whiteestate.org/books/mb/mb2.html.)
It is not until the heart renounces sin and submits to the love of Christ that peace can be had. Pride will not reside there. For only by pride is there contention. (Read Proverbs 13:10.)
“He who is at peace with God and his fellow men cannot be made miserable.” (MB 27.3)
For Health’s Sake…
Drawing from an article that revealed the blood pressure readings before, during and after a presidential debate, Pastor Flemons described the physiology of the effects. The readings were in normal range both before and after the debate but was elevated during the debate. It is because our nervous system is sympathetic that it will react to disturbing information by causing the blood vessels to constrict. Some people have even had a heart attack after receiving disturbing news, he pointed out. Today’s presidential election may be found to have done just that for some. But remember this, he says, it is God who sets up kings and takes them down. (Read Daniel 2:21.)
This same God created the human body (Genesis 1:27). The body is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 119:14). If we keep our hearts tuned to Christ, we can remain at peace. In fact, we can have a peace that passes understanding.
Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
Relying on GOD helps keep us refreshingly healthy.
