Worship: For Heaven’s Sake The power of God was manifest in every generation of organizing His church. “The power of God shook Mount Sinai,” when the Hebrew church was organized. It was the first generation. At the organization of the Christian church (the second generation), the power of God was manifest in the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ in every language of those present for Pentecost in Jerusalem. It was miraculous in that the speakers were never trained in the languages heard.
No less was the power of God visible in the organization of the third generation: that of the Remnant church. “During the approximately ten years immediately preceding the ushering in of the Remnant church,” like trumpets heralding the coming King, the world was warned of His Judgment. “Godly men in practically all parts of the civilized world” “stirred all Christendom as it had not been stirred since the days of the apostles.” They proclaimed Revelation 14:6 and Amos 4:12: “The hour of His Judgment is come;” “Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.” The historic era is known as the Great Awakening.
A full chapter is devoted to the movement in the book The Great Controversy, by Ellen G. White. Pastor Flemons read a portion of Chapter 20, “A Great Religious Awakening.” He also read an excerpt from “The First Great Awakening,” a TeacherServe essay, authored by Christine Leigh Heyrman and published by the National Humanities Center.

Wellness: For Health’s Sake Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that herbs can help with your allergies. Butterbur tops the list, according to Josh Axe, author of the U.S. News & World Report article that Pastor Flemons shared with listeners. Garlic was next, followed by stinging nettle leaf, rosemary, and turmeric.
Well respected for its effectiveness against migraines, butterbur has been found to work “just as well as” Zyrtec for allergies, without the negative side effects of antihistamines. Just as garlic is “a must in homemade tomato sauce,” it is a must in “any wellness regimen.” This is especially true in dealing with allergies, since garlic acts as a natural antihistamine. The use of stinging nettle leaf for its medicinal value has been dated back to ancient Greece. Studies have now shown that stinging nettle leaf has “excellent anti-inflammatory abilities” that “can actually inhibit multiple inflammatory events.” Only recently has rosemary been found to have “both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.” The only caution is to take the supplement with food to avoid a stomachache. Since science has found “a seemingly endless list of turmeric health benefits that make this tasty spice just as effective as many pharmaceuticals – if not more so,” it is a natural aid in your fight against allergies.
