Worship: Spirit of Prophecy Reform / Wellness: From Masturbation to Mental Illness

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  In order to save us, God gave to us the Bible, the greater light. More than that, He also gave us the spirit of prophecy, the lesser light, which reflects the greater light. Just as the moon, which has no light of its own and simply reflects the sunlight during the dark part of the day, so the spirit of prophecy, the writings of Ellen G. White, simply reflect the Word of God during the dark part of Earth’s history.

“The Word of God is sufficient to enlighten the most beclouded mind, and may be understood by those who have any desire to understand it. But notwithstanding all this, some who profess to make the Word of God their study, are found living in direct opposition to its plainest teachings. Then, to leave men and women without excuse, God gives plain and pointed testimonies, bringing them back to the Word that they have neglected to follow. The Word of God abounds in general principles for the formation of correct habits of living, and the Testimonies, general and personal, have been calculated to call their attention more especially to these principles.—Testimonies For The Church 5:663, 664 (1889).” {Ev 256.4}

Because we did not give heed to the Bible, God mercifully gave to us the spirit of prophecy. To reject any part of the spirit of prophecy, says Pastor Flemons, is to reject the Bible. Your heart must fully belong to God. He gave us the reforms that we learn in the writings of Ellen G. White so that our lives can more righteously reflect His character and be saved. Without her writings, we would not know many of the modern applications of God’s word, he says. Her writings are biblical principles.

“The very last deception of Satan will be to make of none effect the testimony of the Spirit of God. ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish’ (Proverbs 29:18). Satan will work ingeniously, in different ways and through different agencies, to unsettle the confidence of God’s remnant people in the true testimony.—Selected Messages 1:48 (1890).” {LDE 177.5}

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says that masturbation can cause mental illness. From his own personal experience working at a mental institution, he confirms the claim that mental institutions are filled with those who have given themselves over to masturbation, formerly called secret vice. “It drains the electrical energy of the mind,” he says, and weakens the physical constitution.

Pastor Flemons read in part counsel from the book An Appeal to Mothers, by Ellen G. White, given in this regard:

“Mothers, the great cause of these physical, mental and moral evils is secret vice which inflames the passions, fevers the imagination, and leads to licentiousness. This vice is laying waste the constitution, and preparing the young for disease of almost every description. And shall we permit our children to pursue a course of self-destruction? {ApM 8.1}

“Secret vice is the destroyer of high resolve, earnest endeavor, and strength of will to form a good religious character. . .” {ApM 9.1}

With every ejaculation, a large amount of zinc is lost, says Pastor Flemons. Zinc, he says, is the protective measure against prostate cancer and a builder of the immune system. While this does not mean that all prostate cancers are caused by excessive ejaculations, it does mean that prostate cancers tend to reveal the absence of zinc.

“When you have no control of your passion,” says Pastor Flemons, “that means that you are going to engage in the fulfillment of that passion in an unnatural way, at an unnatural time, with an unnatural person: yourself. It is supposed to be with your spouse.” Even with your spouse, temperance must be the order of the day. It means doing in moderation those things that are good, but completely abstaining from all things that are harmful.

“We must be temperate in all things. The counsel is true, says Pastor Flemons. This act is not of God.”

Acts 7:22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds. (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 82.)

John 4:23  But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 78.)

Worship: How the Study the Bible, Part 3 / Wellness: Relieve Stress with Exercise

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  “God wants us prepared for Heaven. That is most important for us today,” says Pastor Flemons. We must study God’s word precept upon precept. Precepts are principles, doctrines. All the Bible will show its consistency with principle, with doctrine. The Bible is consistent from Genesis to Revelation. The problem is that readers of the Bible typically do not understand how to study biblical precepts. (Read Isaiah 28:10.)

Consider Genesis 6:19, 20, 21; Daniel 1; Deuteronomy 14: Leviticus 11; Mark 7:1-23; and Acts 10:1-28. Particularly note verse 17 and 28. Although all the previous Bible passages clearly agree, Acts 10 must be read through at least through verse 28 to finally understand that it has no reference to food at all, but to racial prejudice. Yet, Acts 10 is commonly used as a reason to eat any and everything, as though God approves or commanded it to be so.

We must realize that some biblical dreams must be taken symbolically, not literally. One verse cannot be used to nullify a host of other verses that agree on a doctrine. No Scripture can be ignored. All Scripture will agree. Studying according to biblical mandate is the key. “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little.” That’s Isaiah 28:10.

[For additional details, please read Isaiah 29:13 and Matthew 15:7-9. Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons.]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, says when you are overwhelmed to the point you feel stressed out, that is distress. It can kill you. The best thing to do is to take it to the Lord in prayer, while you get out into the fresh air and exercise in nature. Walking and talking to the Lord is best.

This will relieve distress. It will relax muscle tension. It will normalize blood pressure. It will decrease blood fats and blood sugar. It will detoxify the blood and preserve the health of the immune system. It can help save your life.

(For further details, please listen to the recording.)

Words of Encouragement

Hebrews 12:17  He found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.  (Also read Conflict and Courage, CC 63.)

Deuteronomy 10:12  And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul. (Also read With God at Dawn, WGD 59.)

Worship: The Tabernacle Finished! / Wellness: Power of a 10-day Test

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Whatever we venture into, we must first seek the counsel of God for success. This principle is to be applied in every situation. It may be a relationship. It may be a business venture. Doing things without God’s direction and help is sure to bring failure.

When we grow in Christ, we will be in favor with God and man. God will give us wisdom in how to proceed. If we submit to His guidance, we will be successful. We will be victorious.

In only one year, former slaves, who had been demeaned their whole lives, completed the building of the tabernacle, according to the directions of God as shown to Moses. Completing a building in one year might not sound successful, says Pastor Flemons. But when you consider what it is like to work with a group of murmuring and complaining people, it is a great feat. This is especially so, when you also consider that this was done in the desert.

Nevertheless, as Jesus said in Mark 10:27, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”

[For additional details, please read Exodus 40:17; Philippians 2:13; Psalm 127:1; 11:3; Mark 10:27; 1 Corinthians 3:11; Luke 2:52; Proverbs 9:10, and “The Tabernacle Finished” in Path to the Throne of God, by Sarah Elizabeth Peck. (PTG 196 original. PTG 266 latest edition. PTG 148 online.)  Also, listen to the recording to hear the commentary of Pastor Flemons, who sang Hymn 341, “To God Be the Glory.”]

Worship: For Health’s Sake  Shelem Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness, discussed the power of a 10-day test. Using Daniel’s experience as revealed in the first chapter of Daniel, we also can be assured that changes in the diet and lifestyle for healing can be visible in ten days. If you get on God’s plan for healing, whether it’s for diabetes or hypertension or even cancer, you should notice a change in ten days.

But you must do it right, says Pastor Flemons. “Don’t do it wrong and say it doesn’t work.” He advises eating a total plant-based diet, with lots of raw vegetables and fruits. Even leave off the fruits, if you have a sugar restriction, he says. Eat leafy green vegetables and lots of sprouts, instead. This dumps toxins from the body. With cancer especially, toxic dumping in ten days can make you not feel so good. Still, you can be assured that things are happening for the better, says Pastor Flemons.

(For further details, please listen to the recording and read Daniel 1 here.)
