Worship: When a Thing Seems Right / Wellness: The Real Cause of Acid Reflux, Similar Issues

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  The Bible provides principles for living. But then there are overriding principles that are best applied in certain situations. When we do not appropriately apply biblical principles, that’s when we get into trouble, says Pastor Flemons. We must ask God for guidance in knowing how to choose and when to apply the overriding principles in every situation. For “there is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death” (Proverbs 14:12).

(For further details and to sing with Pastor Flemons Hymn 523, “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus,” please listen to the recording and read Proverbs 14:12; 16:25; Psalm 119:9, 10; Isaiah 28:13; and DA 84.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Acid reflux may feel like a heart attack. That’s because when digestive juices are backing up into the esophagus, the chest area is painful and there is a burning sensation. GERD is a more severe condition of acid reflux. “GERD is short for gastroesophageal reflux disease.” It is caused by anything that makes an overproduction of acid, says Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness. Eating between meals does it. Chewing gum, in the long run, does it. Flesh eating does it. Eating late at night does it. Stress does it. Stomach acid burns, he says. But the mucus lining of the stomach protects it from the harsh burning of digestive acids. It is in places where the mucus lining has been weakened or dissipated that an ulcer can develop. Pastor Flemons says licorice or DGL is an excellent natural remedy for acid reflux. But it must be noted that regular licorice raises the blood pressure and blood sugar. DGL won’t. “It is made from licorice from which the glycyrrhizin has been removed,” according to the Wikipedia entry. For further details, listen to the recording and visit the draxe.com article on licorice root and DGL.

Sharing Time  Should you taken aspirin every day if you are older than 60 years to prevent heart attacks or strokes? Pastor Flemons does not support using drugs for prevention. He recommends drinking lemon juice, eating garlic, taking cayenne or white willow bark. They are all blood thinners. Pastor Flemons also gave an extended response to a question about the violation of religious rights regarding customer service to the LGBT community.

Words of Encouragement

Romans 8:38, 39  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

John 17:3  And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. (Also read COL 114.)

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  In the Epistle to the Galatians, Paul fearlessly spoke directly to them, not about them to others, says Pastor Flemons. (Read more below.)

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Isaiah 65:8 is referring to fresh wine made from a cluster of grapes. That’s grape juice, says Pastor Flemons, a doctor of biblical wellness. It’s not fermented. When it ferments, it becomes a problem. (Read more below.)

QTQT  A question about an infected toe led to a brief discussion on candida. Nevertheless, an effective remedy for an infected toe is pouring tea tree oil on the toe or immersing the toe in vinegar.

Special Prayer was offered for call-in listener 5933. Please pray for her daughter, Brittany, who is experiencing emotional issues, including anxiety, and suffering in pain with a thigh, swollen now to 40 inches. Pray for help and strength for mother to continue the juicing regimen.

Words of Encouragement

Hebrews 11:5  By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

Romans 1:17  For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

For Heaven’s Sake…

“In the Galatian churches, open, unmasked error was supplanting the gospel message. Christ, the true foundation of the faith, was virtually renounced for the obsolete ceremonies of Judaism. The apostle saw that if the believers in Galatia were saved from the dangerous influences which threatened them, the most decisive measures must be taken, the sharpest warnings given. AA 385.2

“An important lesson for every minister of Christ to learn is that of adapting his labors to the condition of those whom he seeks to benefit. Tenderness, patience, decision, and firmness are alike needful; but these are to be exercised with proper discrimination. To deal wisely with different classes of minds, under varied circumstances and conditions, is a work requiring wisdom and judgment enlightened and sanctified by the Spirit of God. AA 385.3

“In his letter to the Galatian believers Paul briefly reviewed the leading incidents connected with his own conversion and early Christian experience. By this means he sought to show that it was through a special manifestation of divine power that he had been led to see and grasp the great truths of the gospel. It was through instruction received from God Himself that Paul was led to warn and admonish the Galatians in so solemn and positive a manner. He wrote, not in hesitancy and doubt, but with the assurance of settled conviction and absolute knowledge. He clearly outlined the difference between being taught by man and receiving instruction direct from Christ. AA 386.1

“The apostle urged the Galatians to leave the false guides by whom they had been misled, and to return to the faith that had been accompanied by unmistakable evidences of divine approval. The men who had attempted to lead them from their belief in the gospel were hypocrites, unholy in heart and corrupt in life. Their religion was made up of a round of ceremonies, through the performance of which they expected to gain the favor of God. They had no desire for a gospel that called for obedience to the word, ‘Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’ John 3:3. They felt that a religion based on such a doctrine, required too great a sacrifice, and they clung to their errors, deceiving themselves and others. AA 386.2

“To substitute external forms of religion for holiness of heart and life is still as pleasing to the unrenewed nature as it was in the days of these Jewish teachers. Today, as then, there are false spiritual guides, to whose doctrines many listen eagerly. It is Satan’s studied effort to divert minds from the hope of salvation through faith in Christ and obedience to the law of God. In every age the archenemy adapts his temptations to the prejudices or inclinations of those whom he is seeking to deceive. In apostolic times he led the Jews to exalt the ceremonial law and reject Christ; at the present time he induces many professing Christians, under pretense of honoring Christ, to cast contempt on the moral law and to teach that its precepts may be transgressed with impunity. It is the duty of every servant of God to withstand firmly and decidedly these perverters of the faith and by the word of truth fearlessly to expose their errors.” AA 387.1

(This study is based on the Epistle to the Galatians and chapter 36, “Apostasy in Galatia” in The Acts of the Apostles (AA), by Ellen G. White.)

For Health’s Sake…

For stomach relief, you need to neutralize stomach acids, not add more acid. Grape juice is alkaline and will neutralize stomach acids. Simply pour 6 ounces of grape juice in a glass and sip.

Activated charcoal will do the same. It is important to stir activated charcoal into a glass of water, rather than pour water into a glass that already contains charcoal. That would quickly become a black mess. Please, stir 1 tablespoon of activated charcoal into about 6 ounces of water and drink it.

DGL or licorice tablets, as well as ginger tea are also effective remedies for an upset stomach. Still, it is important to adjust the lifestyle to prevent an upset stomach. Eating between meals, eating all day long, chewing gum, eating candy, not drinking enough water, drinking water with meals, all create acid and tend to cause the stomach to be upset.

Worship: The Word vs Your Experience / Wellness: Remedies for Acid Reflux

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake Pastor Flemons taught from 2 Timothy 2:2-4 and Matthew 24:23-27. Experience, even supernatural manifestations, can never be more dependable than the Word of God. “Follow the Bible,” advises Pastor Flemons. He used the false theory of futurism as an example. It leads to the belief in a so-called secret rapture, when the Bible in Revelation 1:7 clearly points out that “every eye” will see Jesus when He comes, even those who pierced Him (Matthew 26:64).

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Remedies for acid reflux include eating at regular times, not eating between meals, fasting to reset the body, taking aloe and slippery elm, drinking lemon juice, drinking ginger root tea, taking licorice in the form of DGL, taking activated charcoal, and avoiding improper food combinations. One or more of these may be sufficient for healing.

Worship: Are You Ever Accountable for Your Dreams? / Wellness: Causes of Acid Reflux

Worship: For Heaven’s Sake  Tonight’s broadcast focused on the dream of King Solomon in 1 Kings 3:5-15. Read it. God appeared to King Solomon in a dream and said, “Ask what I shall give thee.” King Solomon answered with a request for wisdom to lead the vast multitude of God’s people. God was pleased and agreed to give King Solomon a wise and understanding heart and more: wealth and honor and a promise of long life, if he remained faithful. Then Solomon awoke from his dream.

Wellness: For Health’s Sake  Pastor Flemons only addressed the causes of acid reflux in tonight’s broadcast. Tomorrow, he will focus on the remedy. Causes of acid reflux include not eating enough raw foods, not drinking enough water, eating between meals, drinking with meals, eating late at night, chewing gum and eating candy, eating flesh, excessive stress, and any habit that hinders digestion.

Q&A Discussion about spiritual gifts concluded with a principle to remember: Spiritual gifts are useless without love.
